Problem with CD-rom drive - can anyone help?

Hi, I have a 3 yr old Dell, and the internal Cd-rom drive has just packed up. Windows is no longer reading the drive nor is it picked up when i start up the system. and I can't

does anyone have any ideas how best to fix this? How can I reinstall the cd-rom drive by detaching then reattaching the cables?

Thanks for your help

if it has just happened then try using system restore to go back to an earlier restore point

it's under accessories , system tools

A friends PC often "loses" its Cr-Rom..this cures it !!

if it is broken then it's not the hardest job in the world to put in a new one, Windows will just recognise the new drive and you will be up and running
