Previously I had purchased and loaded Norton 2005 for my sons machine but he had not bothered to register on the web. He got a message saying 'Norton Trial period has expired'
but ignored it. Powered machine down , got the usual Microsoft message
about Send or Not Send , decided as usual not to send. Since then
when he turns machine on he gets the message 'Windows not able to install,
we apologise for inconvenience etc, etc'. Even when he F8s he cannot even
boot up in Safe Mode!. Phoned up PC world, they say its a common
problem £70 to sort out machine away for 5 days!!!. Cannot locate
system restore disc, but cannot afford to lose data files, as expected
not backed up!!!.
Any ideas anyone please!!!!

Well what was the "so" called common problem, I mean if you had that
it would be a real good starting point, phone em back and ask what they meant.0 -
I'd go with a Linux disk to boot machine and get data off, you can pick them up for about £4 inc postage on ebay
does not sound like a "common" fault to me...even if windows does not load you can normally get into safe modeEx forum ambassador
