Residential Investing
We got a letter in the post today addressed to both of us by our first names and asking us to invest £35,000 in an "ethical" sale and rent back scheme. They are asking us to become one of a consortium of 12 investors. The money is for a TV marketing campaign to acquire properties from owners who want to remain tenants in…

Having different things to save for that cost different amounts that are due at different times (but overlap) Id quite like to see a different account (virtual or not I dont mind) for…

Take it out and spend it or what do you advise please?
We have always shied away from risky investments. Paid off the mortgage, got no debts, both took out isas and never ever dabbled with shares, as we didn't understand them. BUT there comes a time when the promise of a guaranteed return is too tempting - so we took a punt - only a smallish one. My wife invested ( )…

Very small saver question
I'm a very small saver with not much to invest compared to some but since reaching retirement I've actually got a little bit of money put away. I have £900 in the Barclays Tax Haven ISA and £500 in a Halifax 6 month Guaranteed Reserve account. Both of these are due to mature, for best rates, in May. I won't make a fortune…

Are there any UK Savings Accounts for Overseas Residents?
When I lived in the UK I opened a savings account with First Direct which I now operate through the internet from Australia. (FD are happy for this.) My pension is paid in GBP into this account. The balance has now exceeded the government guarantee level so, for security, I'd like to move the surplus to another UK…

Egg FTSE bond matures: Damn!!!
In March 2003 I put 10K in an Egg FTSE 6-year Bond. It's final value was based on the FTSE100 on last Friday minus the FTSE100 in march 2003 times my 10K. Return on my investment ..... zero. Well that was a bloody great bit of investing, wasn't it. Warren Buffet I am not!

What if...your managed fund or stockbroker

For example, what if you have funds with a stockbroker through which you deal shares and that stockbroker goes bust; are you a creditor or are your monies protected and ring fenced in a client account? Just wondered. Again, what if you have a fund managed i.e. a tracker fund and the fund managing company goes…

IFA Trail Commission
I have a major problem with the Fund based trail commission claimed by IFA's. Most of them do not earn their corn in this area and it is really money for virtually no work. I would like to start a campaign to cancel all trail commission claimed by IFA'a and make them earn their money fairly. Most IFA's do not have a clue…
