Are there any UK Savings Accounts for Overseas Residents?

When I lived in the UK I opened a savings account with First Direct which I now operate through the internet from Australia. (FD are happy for this.) My pension is paid in GBP into this account. The balance has now exceeded the government guarantee level so, for security, I'd like to move the surplus to another UK bank/building society.
All the banks/building socs I've tried, state I must be UK resident in order to open the account - which I no longer am.
Is anyone aware of an internet based, savings account open to non-UK residents like me?
