my own landline number called me
On 14 June arrived home to find I had missed a call from my own number! Emailed Sky to ask how that was possible. They didn't know. Yesterday got another call. My caller display again showed my own number, I answered the call. The man asked if I was "Mrs xxx". I didn't confirm but asked which company he was from ( I am…

Is there someone pretending to be me?
Hello, I've recently had a call from a company about finance stuff - it was a local number, they said they were calling as they had been sent my details as I had recently applied for/been turned down for a credit card or loan, I have not done either of these - I have no credit cards or loans - the woman seemed surprised as…

Printers
It is quite clear that printer manufacturers sell their printers at below cost price with the aim of recouping the money on cartridges. This leads to the ridiculous situation where the cost of toner or a set of ink cartridges is more that the cost of the machine. Using remanufactured cartridges obviously helps but may…

Praise for Urban Outfitters
My DD bought a top, some shorts and sunglasses from urban Outfitters in Westfield White City the other day and when she checked the bag the next day the sunglasses hadn't been packed. Westfield is not particularly close for us so would have been pretty inconvenient to go back to collect them. Telephoned the store on the…

Switching from Npower
Using the Cheap Energy Club recommendation I switched from Npower to Scottish Power taking place on 29th April ( the process began in March). The transfer was dealt with by Scottish Power with meter readings being sent by me to both suppliers. It transpires that Npower owe me around £160 for the balance of my account. I…

Living Social - Mrs Sparkles
To cut a long story short: 1) Don't buy the cleaning deal for Mrs Sparkles from any of the deal sites 2) Would the OFT be the people to contact re Living Social misselling the deal? They advertise a cleaning deal as having a £75 value but having contacted the company direct the cleaning we received would cost less than…

But this address has been here since 1937, the road itself is well signed and we have 2 signs with the house name on (by tomorrow there will be 3, just to be safe) Ok, package to be delivered last thursday, between 4 and 5. No package, called them, said no-one was in but two of us…

A junk call to end all junk calls!
I just had a junk call offering me a service to end junk calls! I couldn't stop laughing at the bloke!!! "I'm calling about the large number of marketing calls you receive." "Yes, they are a nuisance." "We are offering a service to stop all marketing calls." "Like this one you mean, well let's start now!"…

Praise for West Oxford Planning Department!
I have heard so many horror stories about our local planning department in West Oxfordshire, I was full of trepidation when having to apply for change of use from an office to residential. I had good telephone advice and it happened to be the first day that the new relaxed 'prior approval' rules came in to force. They sent…

Poor quality from BuyShedsDirect
I purchased an 'overlap' 6' x 4' shed from Buy Sheds Direct with a wooden base kit costing just over £204 inc delivery. No problem with the ordering, service, delivery and (additional cost) paid for construction (extra)...however....the quality is terrible! It is made of ultra thin match board panels which do not…

Lack of docking/playing stations for iPod/iPhone 5
Why have these taken SO long to appear? I did see two models in Apple and John Lewis last week but want to compare features and prices with other models before buying one. This afternoon i looked in the ASDA Home store. They had about 6-7 different models of the older version (pre iPod 5) and these were mostly reduced to…

The strangest thing happened on ebay....
My wife put a bid on an item for 99p with a maximum of £2.04. Just before the auction closed, another bidder bid in incremental steps until he beat my wife's bid. Then after the auction closed he withdrew his last winning bid leaving my wife the 'winner' @ £2.04. Is this a loop hole in ebay to flush out maximum bids?

Avoid spending Nectar points in store at Sainsbury's
I have usually order vouchers with my Nectar points so that I can spend them on fuel because I rarely go into the store. When I do, they are posted to me at the expense of Nectar and treated as cash at the fuel kiosk till. I get full Nectar Points according to how many litres I've bought. This evening I popped into the…
