Is there someone pretending to be me?

Hello,

I've recently had a call from a company about finance stuff - it was a local number, they said they were calling as they had been sent my details as I had recently applied for/been turned down for a credit card or loan, I have not done either of these - I have no credit cards or loans - the woman seemed surprised as to how they had my details in that situation - should I be worried?

Have you checked you credit report to see if there have been any credit searches performed recently?

    ....should I be worried?

    Possibly.

On the other hand, it's a standard sales gimmick in certain telesales operations - e.g. PPI claims companies who contact you to check that you've received the claims form you requested.
  • Thanks for the advice, I ran a credit report on me, all seems fine! Obviously someone trying their luck with me!
