Cosmetologists Con
If anyone is thinking of buying one of the Cosmetologist dental hygiene kits as advertised on KGB Deals - don't. It might look all nice and lovely in the photos but it's cheap and tacky and certainly not worth the £5 plus £3.95 postage they charge. Seriously I reckon it comes from Poundland or somewhere like that, I'm sure…

Postal scam warning
Yet another 'prize draw eligibility acceptance certificate' dropped through the door today for me to 'activate my entry status'. it will only cost me £5 or perhaps more if I include my card details including the security 3 digit code on the back, which I am encouraged to do on the printed form. No telephone number given,…

Junk Mail My fight back begins
Today after reading somewhere on the forums about sending back the junk mail if they have enclosed a paid envelope. I decided to give it a try and I must admit feeling a certain amount of satisfaction, because that means they have to pay the postage twice! Also they will have to dispose of the junk, and by returning it I am…

Claiming cashback from Moneyexpert.com
Hi Has anyone had difficulty claiming cashback from the above website? I took out car insurance and followed the instructions to wait 14 days and then claim the refund via a screen on their site. I lodged a query on their site (it's a 'live' helpdesk) but have gotten nowhere in 2 days: MARTYN XCreated: 15th March 2011 @…

SAS go bust
SAS fire and Security have gone bust. I got a letter saying they had gone bust but they were going to pass the monitored service over to another firm. They would get in touch when this happens. They have made their money and that's all they were in it for. Good riddance to a shoddy firm of parasites.

Chinese
I went into my local "chinese" take-away to grab a bag of chips after work. (I hate calling these places "chinese" since there's nothing chinese about their food, other than the chinese person cooking it). I noticed a big notice on the window saying everything on their menu has increased by 20p to reflect the 20% VAT…

La Senza sizing
I'm sure this has been done to death... but I decided to get myself some new bras today as I haven't been fitted in about a year. Went to Bravissimo, get fitted as being basically midway between two cup sizes (sigh) but got two bras which fit lovely. Went to La Senza to pick up some slightly cheaper ones (Bravissimo not…

[text deleted by forum team]
In essence, they supplied two "flat pack" items that were both damaged when they arrived. A replacement door was requested for each, but the company refused, stating that first the damaged items needed to be sent back to them, at which time a refund of up to £15 postage would be considered. When this was challenged, they…

TV license
Just had a letter from the tvlicense people asking for money for a tv license for the business. As we do not use a TV for the business we declined to pay and declared we dont have one. The letter says they may confirm with a short visit, just what rights do they have to come onto a business premises to check?

Staybrite and Anglian Windows are a pain in the backside
...... two days running reps from both these companies have knocked on my door, despite the fact that we have a sign clearly displayed near the door bell that we do not buy from anyone calling at the door so don't bother knocking. However, underneath there is a note saying if you are on official business, please show your…

Well done EDF for fitting wrong taraiff meter- a year ago!
Was supposed to be a EDF 20/20 meter, had constant problems over them 'reading' it wrong, and they put our payment up to £70 a month. We watched and wrote down how many times it clicked over and it was constant. Got in touch and they finally sent someone to check it out, he took one look and said it was the wrong one:mad:…

Cheap Pork!
The next time you pick up the cheapest piece of pork (or any meat product) at the supermarket, or cut-price hamburger just take a look at the label to see where it was produced (not packed). There is every chance that it was imported from a country with low/non existent hygeine standards & low/zero animal welfare.......if…

Just a wee vent about photographer costs.
OH took up running a couple of years back. The events he participates in tend to be very well attended. The most recent was a half marathon. There was a photographer on hand taking various pics of the runners and these are then hosted online for you to view and possibly purchase. Each pic costs £17.99 for a digital…

Tetley 'Try me Free' offer catch
I bought a Tetley green tea box because it had a flash on the side saying try free. I assumed it would be the usual case of sending off the till receipt to get a refund. I was wrong . They require you to provide your bank details to them so they can credit your bank account direct with £1.79. I have complained but they say…

BT Charges.
A while ago BT started charging £4.50 to allow you to pay on receipt of a bill. They now seem to have doubled it to £9.00. Whilst it was marginally acceptable for the lower charge its a bit much now that they are charging 10% of the bill to send a bit of paper. 80yr old MIL does not like D/D's but I'll have to set…
