Postal scam warning

Yet another 'prize draw eligibility acceptance certificate' dropped through the door today for me to 'activate my entry status'.
it will only cost me £5 or perhaps more if I include my card details including the security 3 digit code on the back, which I am encouraged to do on the printed form. No telephone number given, surprise, surprise. Address at the top says, FTW Riverside View, Thornes Lane, Wakefield, WF1 5QW.Letter is supposed to be from Thomas Hamilton, FTW.There is a very complicated disclaimer at the bottom of the letter which I can only describe as gibberish.
Surely this type of unsolicited mail should not be allowed in this day and age, or am I being silly ?

I got one of these letters today from the same people.
It looks like an obvious scam, but they must have enough response to make it worth their while. They need a response of at least 1 in 13 to break even on just the postage it costs them!
They mention a third party sponsors prize draw. So maybe they are just entering people's details into a free prize draw of some other company and charging a fiver for the privilege?0 -
Just had one of these scams in the post this morning, they've changed their name to WYN, same address as previous and respond to a David Stirling.0

We have today had a letter from these people addressed to Mr R Case, who was the previous occupier and died some years ago, I heave sent the tear off slip back, with a rather rude message on it, Oh and no stamp!
