We have been in our new house for 8 months and last nov queried the postcode allocation as it is a new house and I know RM take time to adjust their database. We were informed that the postcode as on our deeds and with the land registry would be ammended
They still haven`t done it and now we find that they were given mis information by the district council. Either the district council have initially given the developer the wrong postcode or our postcode as on the deeds is correct and the DC has still not changed their database
what a mess. Someone has messed up and we are the ones to get the flack because no-one can find us via RM postcode database
RM will not budge and I have just e mailed the DC to clarify things. If the wrong postcode was initially issued by the dc so that the wrong postcode is on our deeds and easements and so on, then how on earth do we get all that changed?

That's made me chuckle! Although I think the problem is more that the postcode appears differently in a number of different places and it's proving difficult to get the incorrect instance(s) to changed to the correct version. I guess the first thing to find out... what exactly is the postcode? The OP isn't sure. How do you find that out? Who assigns postcodes? The council assigns a postal address and then inform Royal Mail who then assign the postcode. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

It might be easier, kittie if you gave some examples. Not your real version(s) of your postcode of course, but made up ones to represent who agrees with whom.
E.g. We think our postcode is 1234. The district council says 1234. The deeds and land registry say 1235. RM says 1235. (I think that's how it is but it's difficult to tell)."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Whatever RM say is correct as they issue them. Anything is irrelevant as the postcode was only ever started to make delivering the post easier. Anything else is just using their system. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

I still can't work out who disagrees with whom."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

RM told me today that they take their postcodes from council building control address database. Someone at the council has messed up and we have a different postcode on the RM database to that on our deeds. Either it wasnt` updated at the council or an incorrect one was given to the developer.
I feel as though I am winkling away at this and have someone at the DC looking at this for me tomorrow. Either way now, I think we will get this sorted.
Thanks to the helpful ones who posted above0 -
