Today after reading somewhere on the forums about sending back the junk mail if they have enclosed a paid envelope. I decided to give it a try and I must admit feeling a certain amount of satisfaction, because that means they have to pay the postage twice! Also they will have to dispose of the junk, and by returning it I am also supporting the Post Office!:j I think if everyone did this we would end up getting less Junk mail.

That's how I get my opinion of junk mail aired too.
Don't forget, they not only pay the postage twice, but they have to pay staff for opening and checking them.

Don't forget that adding unwanted takeaway menus will help bulk out the envelope and tip the item into the next postage rate.

I'm going to do this with all the Virgin Media (To the Occupier) letters I get. They're the last thing that I can't do anything about. I've signed up with the MPS and the RM Opt Out, plus I'm obsessive about making sure I tick all the right boxes to reduce communication and ensure I tell every company I deal with, e.g. bank etc. that I don't want marketing literature. Apart from the odd takeaway menu, I'm still religiously spammed by Virgin. I have a big A4 envelope that's currently half full of Virgin Media rubbish. Once it's stuffed full and thus maximum weight is going straight back to them, sans postage of course, with a huge note saying "STOP SENDING ME THIS SHITE. I DO NOT, AND NEVER WILL, WANT YOUR POXY SERVICE".

:rotfl: I used to get Virgin Media letters sent to the previous occupier, so simply sent them back with "Not at this address" wrote on them.

Now I get the "To the Occupier" letters and I STILL write "Not at this address" and put them in the post box :rotfl:

  • Just the thread I was looking for. Have had email, texts, phonecall and letters from Belmont Thornton even though I have never contacted them. No idea how they got my information. I could just bin the letters but I want them to stop sending them. Not sure just returning to sender will do it so maybe a note demanding they remove my information from their records. Surely they must be violating the Data Protection Act by having my details and contacting me when I have never provided them with information.
