Party poker! Guilty until proven innocent!
So, I signed up to party poker this evening. After validating user info etc I deposited $50 on my Visa card. Approx 2 minutes later, my account was barred and unaccessible, and I got an email telling me to call an AMERICAN phone number to confirm that I am who I am. So i rang, and they told me to email photographs of my…

18866 1899 18185 Catch 22
When I changed from NTL to Broadband I needed to change my telephone calls to the cheapest providers so signed up to the above, which appear to be sister companies. Unfortunately I used the same credit card details for each and signed up for all. This meant that when I lost my credit card and had to block that one and wait…

Horwoods kitchen ware
I purchased a set of Horwood stainless steel saucepans about 8 years ago. On two of the saucepans the knobs have broken. I emailed Horwood asking if I could buy replacements on Sunday and had a reply today to say they have been ordered and will be dispatched asap. Brill service.

How to avoid Identity Theft
I have seen on various chat boards that there are many people having problems with Identity Theft & Credit Card fraud. Working within the industry to try and protect consumers (not police, a corporate manager), I thought I'd post the top tips on how to avoid this: 1. Easy to start of with - When using your Credit/Debit…

The range - bad service!
Just a little rant about "The Range" I needed 3 picture frames - £7.99 each, only three left and one was slightly damaged, nothing too bad but i wanted an undamaged one, asked the guy if he had anymore and he did not seem to know his name never mind if he had a picture frame  So went to cutomer services and they said…

Silent Calls
I've been pestered up to 5 times a day by a "silent call" dialler which hangs up as soon as I answer the call. Using 1471, I found out that the ring-back number is always an 0870 non-geographical "let's earn a bit of money from those who ring us up to complain" type. I then looked up the number on the internet and found…

Hovis Invisible crust bread.
I bought one of these yesterday, thought it would be great for kids sarnies. It has to be the worst bread I have ever tasted. The bread is so doughy and tasteless. When you butter it, even with the softest butter and lightest touch, it ends up in a flat soggy sheet. Yuk!!!!!!

Traffic Wardens - a warning
Went to visit a friend today who lives SE London (Borough of Lambeth) and ok I admit my parking wasn't the best :o I had parked with one wheel very slightly mounting the very low kerb, must have been overlapping the kerbstone by about 2cms. My car was not impeding passage on the pavement in any way whatsoever. Came back to…

Savastore.com aka Watford Electronics
Grrr. A couple of months ago I ordered some speakers from Savastore but they arrived minus a lead so I reported this expecting that the missing lead would be forwarded. Wrong. I had to fill in (and get authorised) a returns form which then allowed me two weeks to send the goods back at my expense. I contested this and…

Worst convenience store price mark-up
It was "that time of the month" and I'd forgotten to buy something :o I went to the village shop but it was closed. Due to having wine with my tea, I couldn't drive to the supermarket and it was too late to get the bus there. Then I remembered the garage on the main road sells a small selection of grocery items. Walked…

New Barclaycard and Pin number all in one post ..
<sarcasm> I'd like to thank Barclaycard for sending my new Chip & Pin card. I'd also like to express my gratitude for them sending the Pin number at exactly the same time. It was a wonderful, security-affirming experience to know they're looking after my card and security so well. A letter of thanks wings its way to reward…

Daxon
Daxon promised a free pan set with an order. Nothing arrived, so I emailed them time and again. Never a reply. Eventually they sent my order. But with no pan set. Instead they sent a "voucher" for £10. Given they tell me that the pan set is worth 4 times as much I ask them for another £30 of vouchers. No reply. They even…
