I don't normally complain but on this occasion i feel i need to..
I've just been to boots to pick up my digital prints.. they looked for them for 15mins and then came back to me saying another person with the same surname has taken your photo instead their own.. i said to them don't you ask for the telephone number to confirm if it is the correct person the photos belong to.. they said normally they do..
Boots said they will ring the person who has them to return them asap and once they get the photos they will ring me.. this person has had my photos for about 2 days now.. it's got pictures of my family and the kids in it.. i don't know why this person has kept them that long..!!!
I feel sick..
I'm going back to boots at 5ish to make a formal complaint..
Can someone advise if i'm doing the right thing? or should i go about it differently..?

hi, thanks
i phoned to check.. they close at 6pm today0 -
at my local Boots, they open the photos and show you, to make sure you have the correct set.0

Maybe Boots haven't got hold of the person or maybe the person won't have a chance to call back in to the store until next Saturday. I am sure they feel just as sick about getting the wrong photos as you are.

Rich, are you sure your bulls**t detector wasn't faulty? Sounds to me like they just lost/couldn't find them and gave you a fairy story. There's more fiction in excuses in the retail trade than at WH Smiths ! Hopefully with them being digital photos you have at least backed up or got the original files on your PC so it's not as bad as losing the original 35MM film and negs as well as the pics. Although it does sound as if your more concerned with someone actually having your private photos and from a confidential point of view that is understandble. Most people would check immediately that the pics are theirs and return within a short time to get the correct photos. If the "other" person has still got them after 2 days I would definately be having STRONG but polite words with the most senior store manager to find out the FACTS and go from there. If you are not satisfied you need to recite a long sentance with the emphasis on the words "pictures", "children", "Police", and "solicitor" that should convey your concern in the appropriate manner.Light blue touchpaper and stand well back !0

I thought we had seen the end of the OTT reactions on these boards but off we go again.
Mistakes happen. I would agree that in this case the measures Boots have in place to stop them haven't worked but such is life. It may be that someone else has collected the photos for the other person and therefore not opened them. We do this for each other at work. It is then entirely feasible that the person who has the photos cannot get back to the store straightaway. If it was me, I would have telephoned myself to have a moan anyway but that does not mean it would be passed on to the weekend staff to be alert to the problem.
Perhaps you would care to explain exactly what the police and a solicitor are going to do in these circumstances. The police are there to deal with criminal acts. THIS IS NOT ONE. I am at a loss to understand what a solicitor could do.
At the moment, there is no loss to the OP assuming they have the digital material to have the prints redone. I would expect Boots to redo the prints, free of charge and offer some vouchers as well. Once they have made redress, that is the end of it unless some psycho has the other pictures and the OP's address and telephone number and misuses them. That is a different ball game altogether but until it happens, you cannot assume it will, nor that any harm has been caused by this error. Inconvenience yes, at this point in time harm, no.0 -
I use wanadoo.
Last time I received my prints and then 1 week later I received a 2nd copy by post from a lady in Wales. She had received them by mistake with her photos. Looked at the file names on the back - One filename contained my name. The lady then seached the internet and found a picture of me with regard to my business and forwarded them to my business dress.
When I contact wanadoo they appologised and gave me 50 free print credits.
My faith in humanity was restored by this lady.

I agree with bossyboots,
If this was me I would have said...
OK you say someone else has my prints, I require you to reprint my prints now (FOC) so they will definately be ready for me to collect at xx:xx time on xx/xx/xx day (same period of time your first prints took). And when you have recovered my other set of prints, I will require you to forward them to me by post or phone me and I shall come and collect them too.
You will never be sure if their story was bogus, or true, you will also never be sure if it was true that the prints were returned, because they could just print another set anyway.
You could also have said, same surname as me eh? Please don't take any offence at this request but would you mind showing me his prints with his surname on the envelope...
Regarding the time taken for the other guy to return the prints, you are unsure whether boots managed to contact them yet, and then no idea how fast he will return to the store....if it was me I could take up to a week to return to the store.
P.S. My friends used to work in a photo shop and one time he wanted to show me some photos (a customers). Because this persons photos were out in the back room, when they came to ask for the photos they were told, "Oh the vans a bit late today, come back at 12:00".

Well said ... so far no crime has been committed just a simple mistake. There is enough paranoia running around this society without adding to it over a few holiday snaps and suggesting wasting police time.Bossyboots wrote:I thought we had seen the end of the OTT reactions on these boards but off we go again.

lol i used to work for boots and ranting about police and soilicitors will do nothing but pi#s the staff off.the lab staff usually work under a lot of pressure and unfortunately mistakes do happen. keep phoning the store, speak to the lab supervisor who will have more of an idea as whats going on than the store manager generally. if you have no luck or dont like what you hear from them just go straight through to customer service- the number is on the back of the reciept. they have a bit more clout with regard to recompensation and what you get wont be affected by what mood they are in or how tired they are which is what sometimes happens in the stores.. but i can almost guarentee that the member of staff that made the mistake will have gone home feeling sick about it and wont be ahppy until they have been retrieved.:EasterBun ...what more do I need to say?!
its all in the name of medical science.0
