Party poker! Guilty until proven innocent!

So, I signed up to party poker this evening.

After validating user info etc I deposited $50 on my Visa card.

Approx 2 minutes later, my account was barred and unaccessible, and I got an email telling me to call an AMERICAN phone number to confirm that I am who I am.

So i rang, and they told me to email photographs of my drivers license to prove i'm real. So i took as detailed photo's as I could, but of course the text on pictures is muffled at short range. I sent the photo's along, and they replied saying it wasnt good enough and i should fax over the license document.

So I faxed the license to the american fax number, and they emailed me back complaining it doesnt have my date of birth on. Thats because thats on the plastic card which you cant fax, and can't scan as it comes out muffled.

Due to this they told me unless I can send them clear proof of age thru picture of drivers license or passport my account stays barred as well as my $50....

So i emailed 4 times without reply over 5 hours. I Decided to ring and play hell with them. I spoke to some stupid idiot there, where I repeated myself 5 times before he FINALLY understood that I was trying my hardest but it was impossible. He eventually unlocked my account but said if theres any furhter security issues I must provide clear proof of date of birth on driving license or passport... OMFG WHAT HAVE I BEEN TRYING TO DO?

This was disgusting. It took over 8 hours to sort it out, and fair enough it was only $50, i would have entered a couple of sit and go's in that time etc, but instead I was sat here worrying about some stupid company being very very silly.

Thoroughly disgusted with how I've been treated.

I don't understand it- UK paper driving licences DO have a DoB on them and you could have backed up the blurred plastic one with it.

You've had a forceful reminder that Americans cannot comprehend any system which could possibly differ from their own. They are cocooned in their own country and know little of much of the rest of the world. After all, only 25% of them have a passport.
This is not to blame them, merely understand them.

to the OP. .just a thought, your not using AOL are you?

I have had problems with certain online poker places, because (in using AOL), you register as a UK address, but when they check this against your IP adresss it states your not in the UK..

Something like that the techies could explane it better.

The security issues at the poker sites kick in and next thing the account is suspended...

Erm, the paper version of the driver license does NOT have date of birth on except encrypted in the Driver Number!!!!

The Americans wuold not accept it and there was no way of scanning/photographing it without the letters becoming a little muffled.

No i dont use AOL either.
