Someone I work allerginc to pets - reaction to "me"
Oh dear,,,, Is it possible? One of the girls I work with is severely allergic to ALL pets. All was good till today when she says she is feeling very unwell and thinks it is due to me having my dog/cats. So I wonder.... I am NOT covered in cat/dog hair etc but is it possible that she can react like that? Can I be making her…

Something between his toes
Jack has got a pink lump between his toes. I noticed because he was licking it. It's about half an inch long and oval in shape with a raw looking centre, though it's dry to the touch. He's not limping but keeps licking it. If it doesn't clear up I'll take him to the vet but has anyone ever seen anything similar in a dog?

vet stress
My poor16 yr old cat has hurt her paw, she is holding it up not putting weight on it. She is getting around and doesn't appear to be in pain, she has let me look at it without much fussing and there are no visible cuts. It was swollen yesterday but the swelling seems to have gone down. Now I know I should take her to the…

Guinea Pig with hair loss and weight loss
Bit of a long shot posting here but I have been to the vets four times now. My male GP has barely any hair left on his back legs. He has had two lots of mite treatment and this made no difference. he has lost about 150 grams in weight. He eats like a little horse but isn't putting on any weight. I think he is doing it…

Dog obedience/training classes
Does anyone know roughly the cost of dog training/obedience classes? The websites I've looked at so far do not have any indication of cost. Strange. I've sent them messages, just got to wait for replies, but I'd like to have a general idea, as I'm hoping to convince another person to take some classes. Bit of a unique…

When to start on adult food?
Hi everybody, My two kittens are now 11 months old, and I'm wondering when will be the best time to switch to adult food? They're both maine coon x british shorthair, and both these breeds are known not to stop growing until 3/4 years old, which has thrown me. They definitely don't look very adult like yet either, although…

Topping up dog food - quantities in a week
Gitdog is not overkeen on his food, however as he was hyper before he went on it and diet may or may not have been a factor, I don't want to change it just yet. So I'm mixing in other stuff to make it more interesting - it needs to be quick and easy as I'm pushed for time at night. He likes vegetables, but tends to pick…

Never ending!
Erg so, for the past couple of weeks I've been in and out of hospital with my littlest fur baby, Harriet. She's had profuse diarrhoea and vomiting for nearly two weeks and been hospitalised and put on fluids because she wasn't eating, for a total of 4 nights last week, with a total cost of £400 odd :( not claiming on…

Very tough dog toys
On Wednesday we got our first dog from the RSPCA. He is a four year old lab. So far everything is going well, he has settled in very well, gets on with the cats and children, is pretty well trained. The problem is finding a toy that will last for more than a day. We have had balls, a kong, rope etc. can anyone advise…

Bedding covers - cat hair proof?
Getting a bit tired of having my bedding covered in cat hair as it sticks to it like hell and turns into little hair balls almost impossible to remove. Apart from not letting cats on the bed (impossible) what can I do? What bedding do people use? When I had kind of silky/satin type - hair was not sticking to it BUT it…

our JRT is just over 1 year old now, I can't imagine life without him now, and having him has been much easier than I ever thought. anyhow, he loves playing football (not great when he nicks one from the kids at the park, but very funny) loves bringing back a tennis ball, has rubber ball and kongs, he gets a dental stick…

Animal intruder ?
We have a hole under a 6 foot wooden fence in the rear corner of our garden and assume that we have either a fox or a badger visitor The hole is round bottomed with all the earth pushed/pulled next door (diagonally opposite - if you get my drift) Yesterday, I filled up the hole with a large rock. And today - the rock is…

Introducing puppy and cats?
My friend is sick in hospital at the moment so we are looking after her puppy. It may become permanent as she is very poorly and in a few months time may not be able to cope with him. He is a 5 month old Jack russell. Very sweet and caring, doesn't bite and is (90% of the time) very well behaved. We have two cats- one is 3…
