Anti vivisection petition
I'm not usually one for posting things like this, but there is only a few days left to sign this, thought I would try to drum up a few more signatures for a good cause :) http://www.stopvivisection.eu

Petition RE expansion of Beagle and Ferret Breeding Unit for testing
Animal Aid: We have less than a week to stop a facility from being built that would breed dogs and ferrets to be used in animal experiments. Last year, campaigners stopped a similar application from being accepted, but a scaled-down version has now been submitted to East Riding of Yorkshire Council for a unit to be built…

Vet made my puppy ill - and charged me for this!
I took my puppy for a check up at the vets when I first got her to make sure everything was ok. The vet was foreign and I had a hard time understanding what she was saying, she also couldn't understand me which made things a bit difficult. But anyway she said the pup was fine and there was no sign of infection or a…

any persian cat owners out there please?
Are there any owners of Persian cats on here please, that I may ask your advice? I am thinking about adopting a Persian cat, from a Persian rescue home. I am an experienced cat owner, and currently have 1 cat (from the RSPCA and non-pedigree) but I have no experience of Persians. I’ve been researching about the breed…

Food supplements for doggy dandruff?
Gitdog is getting a bit scurfy and itchy. His coat looks in reasonable condition, but he's rubbing against the walls as he walks past and he's got white flakes. He's on harringtons lamb and rice which I'm not looking to change as his ADHD behaviour may be food related and this seems to suit him otherwise. He hates being…

Dog Chewing Paw
I'm looking for advice on how to handle a situation. My dog suffered badly late last year chewing his paws. It started with one of his back paws but spread to the others. Vet gave him antibiotics because he developed an infection at the base of one of his claws. Infection cleared, but chewing increased so we returned to…

Is this a good deal or am I best paying as I go? http://www.thevet.co.uk/pageview.php/page/hpcsignup/Pet+Healthcare+Plan.html I also need to sort out insurance which is as little as 3…

Cat bringing up fur balls
Our new cat has been sick a couple of times in the past week, bringing back food he's just eaten along with a solid lump of compacted fur. One was about 5cm long and 2cm in diameter. Today's was smaller. Does anybody have experience of this with their cat? Do the anti furball foods work? Not sure how much more the carpets…

Companies that do pet insurance with NO EXCESS and deal directly with the vet
Does anybody know of any? I am sick of getting bills for around £85 to £130 for my cats, when they have had something wrong with them. Thing is; the excess is £100, and it isn't worth claiming for £15 to £30 and bumping up my premiums and having a claim (or three!) on my record for the sake of thirty quid! FIVE times in…

Raw Feeding For Dogs
Hello, I was wondering if anybody on here feeds their dog a raw diet? I've recently been looking into raw feeding for my dog and am seriously thinking of swapping over from kibble to raw. I'm probably going to go for the 'Prey Model Raw' diet but will probably add the occasional bit of other food from the 'BARF' diet type…

Another feeding question
Ok, I know I'm coming across as a bit dumb but I'm used to labs who hoover their food, rather than Scamp who, well, doesn't. We switched him over to wet food and for the first day it was successful, but then it was back to a few mouthfuls and away. We've tried lifting his food and he doesn't care, if we leave his food down…

Middle-aged rescue cat wrecking the kitchen cupboard drawers
Maybe 'wrecking' is too strong a word, 'spoiling' is probably a better word. Harry is around 12 years old, we got him from a cat rescue at the end of last year when we decided that we wanted to take on an older cat. He is utterly charming and a very welcome member of the family. Whenever he's in the kitchen with someone…

am I awful
Taking rosie cat to the vets today, she has a very swollen paw that she isn't putting any weight on. She is very old and hates the vets so am dreading it. The thing is I don't want to put her through any invasive tests, don't want her staying overnight etc. But if the only option is tests vs pts I will go for the latter.…

Vesticular event / stroke in older dog
Our little terrier (14) suffered what was described as a mini stroke on Sunday. Having done a bit of research it would appear to be more likely to be vesticular syndrome. She has had an anti infalmmatory steroid injection and is on blood thinning meds and anti motion sickness meds. She was quite bad with drunken walking…
