Petition RE expansion of Beagle and Ferret Breeding Unit for testing

Animal Aid:

We have less than a week to stop a facility from being built that would breed dogs and ferrets to be used in animal experiments. Last year, campaigners stopped a similar application from being accepted, but a scaled-down version has now been submitted to East Riding of Yorkshire Council for a unit to be built on the same site.

And don't forget, time is also running out for the Stop Vivisection petition, as this only has 13 days left to reach its goal of one million signatures and give us the opportunity to call for a new European directive that would end experiments on animals in the EU. I don't think caring for your pets and having a basic understanding of the science behind how new drugs are developed are mutually exclusive.

Do not want to turn this thread into a war but perhaps google a bit and see some images of animals being used to testing.

It is not about understanding science, it is about not causing unnecessary suffering to other life beings for humans comfort/vanity.

Beagles are most commonly used in the testing of cigarettes. Something we certainly know is bad for us so we don't need more pointless tests.

And Ferrets for stuff like cold and flu remedies. As if we haven't got enough of them already.

Both are used in toxicity tests too.

Neither are human. Want to test a product be it medical or not? Test it on yourselves. Only humans can give the most accurate results with regards to human based products.

Plus pet lovers are more likely to empathise with the suffering of animals in labs over non pet lovers, hence my posting here. Especially where something like a dog is concerned.
