Beagles are most commonly used in the testing of cigarettes. Something we certainly know is bad for us so we don't need more pointless tests.

And Ferrets for stuff like cold and flu remedies. As if we haven't got enough of them already.

Both are used in toxicity tests too.

Neither are human. Want to test a product be it medical or not? Test it on yourselves. Only humans can give the most accurate results with regards to human based products.

Plus pet lovers are more likely to empathise with the suffering of animals in labs over non pet lovers, hence my posting here. Especially where something like a dog is concerned.

I'm keeping it to the other thread, no point repeating myself. Head over there if you want to discuss the matter.
  • I can highly recommend this book which deals with vivisection.

    signed both.
I am against animals being used for testing anything to do with humans. Their DNA is different to ours and what works for them doesn't always work for us! and vice versa! plus they are treated so horribly! they don't deserve that - they don't volunteer for the tests!

    Some info about animal testing:

    http://www.understandinganimalresearch.org.uk/about-us/the-science-action-network/forty-reasons-why-we-need-animals-in-research/

Here are some very interesting points:
    • The UK consumes over 300 times more fish each year than the total number of all animals used in medical research each year.
    • Household cats kill approximately 5 million animals every week – more than the total number of animals used in medical research every year.
    • The UK will consume more chickens this year than the total number of all animals used in medical research over the past two centuries in Britain.
    • Cosmetic testing is illegal in the UK.
    • In 2012, no testing of household products was carried out using animals in the UK.
    • Great apes (orang-utans, bonobos, gorillas and chimpanzees) cannot be used for research in the UK

Why Bring 'Science' into it? In some situations we may well understand the 'science', but prefer to listen to our own consciences which feel that this is 'WRONG'!

So stop patronising us as if we were little children who need to have the 'facts' explained to us! We know the bluddy facts, and still CHOOSE to believe its wrong!
