On Wednesday we got our first dog from the RSPCA. He is a four year old lab. So far everything is going well, he has settled in very well, gets on with the cats and children, is pretty well trained.
The problem is finding a toy that will last for more than a day. We have had balls, a kong, rope etc. can anyone advise something tougher? X

Hmmm, nope. We have Danes and have yet to find a toy that they can't destroy in seconds, if they put their minds to it.
We find that playing with them with it, rather than letting them play with it alone helps lengthen most toys lives, it's when the tug of way between the pair of them starts then they toys days are numbered :-)2 angels in heaven :A0 -
Have you tried the black Kongs? Think they're called 'Extreme'.0

Nylabone if they're into chewing. I would have said the black kong, but they last less than a day with gitdog and are too expensive to go through that fast. Someone also suggested sanding down a coconut for him to roll round, but that's probably best outdoors in case it breaks and the water goes everywhere.
I now have a very large knot ball which I got off the local market and has lasted a week. It is falling apart and is leaving bits of cotton everywhere, but I'm desperate.
I did try PAH ruff n tuff toys- they aren't. Less than 5 minutes before bits started falling off.
The other possibility is a boomer ball that's too big to go in the mouth. I find them no use indoors as the dog chases it through the furniture and wreaks havoc. Might do for outdoors though? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I find rope toys good - not so much the rope tugs but the balls, rectangular bars, etc. from Poundland have lasted well here. Infact, the only real damage in the past 3 years is when I accidentally ran one over with the lawn mower!0

Plastic bottles are fun to destroy and free!!0

Tennis balls. Yeah, they can still destroy them, but when you can get packs of four from a pound shop, it's cheap jaw exercise.
Anything that makes a noise when it rolls rather than when it gets squashed is normally a winner as well. Mine had a ball that was too big for his mouth that had a nobbled surface so it growled when it rolled along the floor, he had so much fun argueing with it.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

try a trailer tyre in the garden, and toys developed for horses.

Kongs are definitely the way to go, they are a tad pricy but you will not be having to replace every week let alone every month as they last for ever.I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0
