  • He has destroyed one already

we bought mutt the extreme version last christmas .........soon chewed his way through that.

Was going to suggest to Kong that they use him as a test dog.

We've got one of those rope balls from Poundland and they seem to be lasting well but at a £1 a time it wouldn't matter too much if it did get destroyed

  • Wow, it shows how powerful the jaws are if they can get through a Kong, I bought the black Kong shaped like a bone and my friend's collie hasn't broken that yet.

Remember a toy should look oversized in your dogs mouth, helps a lot with reducing their ability to destroy them in minutes :)

Take a look here http://www.tuffytoys.co.uk/tuffytoys_products.php they test some of their toys on Tigers!

Ohh yes, we've had them also at about £20 each I recall. Didn't last long :-)

  • Our two springers are also heavy duty chewers. They love the 'nylabone durachews double action chew football'. The ones with the blue, rubgy shaped, ball in the middle and two big chunky white bone shaped ends.

They chew and chew and chew on the white ends before they ever get round to having a go at the ball in the middle.

They are expensive, (I found the best deal on ebay - where they were £8 each with free delivery) but good value for money as they have one each and they last about 8 weeks before the ends are chewed so low that they lose their appeal.

We do buy them the version for big breeds though - as someone else said, they look oversized for their mouths - but our two love them.

The only other toy that has lasted has been a set of 3 heavy duty rubber hoops linked in a line - I think we got it from PAH - for some reason they don't want to chew it - but they do enjoy a game of tuggy with it.

Ours have an extreme Kong each - stuffed with frozen yoghurt etc - as a treat but we take them away once the filling has been eaten as they have managed to slice a slither off the actual kong; so I don't doubt they would be able to finish one off given half a chance!!

    Good luck x

Just remembered GoughNuts - seriously tough toys with a chew-proof guarantee (your dog reaches the red indication layer and they'll replace the toy)

I've heard some good reviews of the Starmark range, the main UK supplier is https://www.rosewoodpet.com with the range at http://www.rosewoodpet.com/catalogue/range.aspx?gid=42910&pg=EzU7GN0XFrv4TF0nhQDJYqZrmW%2bOexgv

They are a trade only company so will have to get stockist info to find out where you could buy them.

Anyone else tried the goughnuts with a serious power chewer? They're very expensive but if the lifetime warranty is upheld, I'd seriously consider giving it a go. (I don't expect it to last a lifetime, just a few months would be nice.)
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • I have toy that looks like a fire hose, about a foot in length.
It has squeaker inside and is very tough.
