Using quorn mince for the 1st time
Evening, I've never used quorn mince before and bought some on offer to try, my husband won't entertain the idea of quorn mince but my friend says when she makes a spaghetti bol with it no one knows it's not mince so I'm going to try this theory and see if I can get us having a meat free spag bol and how do I cook with it…

Freezing carrot and swede ?
Hi guys I've chopped up a load of carrot and swede that my SD dropped off for me ... I'm going to make soup with some but I was hoping to freeze half. Can I freeze it ok raw and will it cook ok when I take it back out ? Seems a shame to waste half as it was starting to go pretty ropey Thanks Lisa

Freezer meals...
I've just moved house and have purged the entirety of my questionable freezer lot from the previous property. I had been terrible at labelling stuff and could not remember what half the stuff was let alone when I put it in there. After a questionable dinner of what we thought was leftover spag bol turned out to be curry, I…

Oil on carpet - help!
My living room door has just been taken off to trim it down a bit as we have had a new kitchen floor laid, and there are two long stripes of oil on the carpet. I got to it straight away and used washing up liquid but it's not going. They are in a prominent place and very visible. Any ideas?

Pots and pans
Hi all :) delurking for a bit of advice. I have £180 worth of John Lewis vouchers given to me over a year ago. I am having my kitchen done after years of saving and was thinking I could use them to buy some hard wearing pots and pans etc, as I cook a lot and enjoy it. It's such a large amount of money that I want to spend…

kale and chard
Although I cook a lot of OS, and like my greens, I've never really used either of these. I've got a recipe I want to try that uses chard (sauteed, mixed with cheese, to fill a roulade). I had a feeling that kale could be a substitute, but don't know - can I tap into the experience on here - also whether any of the greens…

My five-week challenge
The day has almost arrived. Tomorrow, my husband is going for a five-week holiday to visit our son and daughter-in-law in Dubai. My cunning plan is to use the time to do some of the de-cluttering that needs to be done in the house, and at the same time, see if I can run down the freezer and walk-in pantry and all the…

Mr T everyday/value items
Is it my imagination, or my area, or are tesc0 phasing out LOADS of value products? Just off the top of my head, I can no longer get value versions of mint sauce apple sauce mustard lemon squash lemon curd mouthwash ...and I keep seeing more stuff disappearing. On my 'favourites' list it says ''tesc0 no longer sells this…

marmalade questions
I have made marmalade for years, but then stopped, and this year have made some again, and now I've forgotten some of the things I used to do. I cook the oranges in my lovely Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker, following their recipe, and then you shred the peel by hand (I put it in Magimix) BUT this year the oranges were VERY…

Empty Fridge Freezer
I emptied my fridge freezer before going away on holiday. I will be back at the weekend, and will need to fill it again (kind neighbour is switching it on for me before I return.) Anyone seen any brilliant bargains (meat, fish, veg) for filling my freezer next weekend? We eat most things - and it is one of those tall…

Help please with pickling dilemna
I have bought several nets of fresh lime in Aldi's offer and chose a slow cooker recipe as follows http://www.vegweb.com/recipes/yabbits-slow-cooker-lime-pickle and I intended to do the first variation and not the solar version (for obvious reasons!). I am however a little concerned that there is no vinegar in this pickle…
