Oil on carpet - help!

My living room door has just been taken off to trim it down a bit as we have had a new kitchen floor laid, and there are two long stripes of oil on the carpet. I got to it straight away and used washing up liquid but it's not going. They are in a prominent place and very visible. Any ideas?

No idea if this would work, but how about irrigating the oil with WD40, then blotting up with kitchen towel?0

Try eucalyptus oil, marvellous stuff. Put a tiny bit on a clean cloth and dab it on to check first. It gets mascara off of carpets, trust me I know!0
