O/S Daily Thursday 25 February 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them x
Birthday wishes to those that have a birthday x
Still dark, but looks cold and very frosty.
DH up and getting ready for work. DS1 up and getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was shepherds pie, it was mahoosive - still loads left and the menfolk had second helpings, definitely something to do again. I'll be putting the remainder in the freezer for another meal. I was just disappointed with the mash topping - the potatoes I have at the moment are awful but I have a part sack left so need to finish those, as I refuse to throw them away. They're really watery and yukky, but they're white potatoes, and I never normally buy whites, as I find red potatoes drier and they don't go mushy and watery when you cook with them - lesson learnt! Tonight we're having pasta in sauce and I'm making a med veg tart as DH moans that pasta isn't enough!
Work yesterday was better, we had technology back and was expecting it to be manic, but it wasn't as busy as we expected, so possibly they will take a hit today and tomorrow or most possibly Saturday morning - I'm working Sat morn, at least if it's busy the time flies by, but it can just be a bit of a nightmare getting out at the end of the shift. I'm now on days' off, so today will be doing all the normal chores, washing, drying, ironing, housework etc. It's a good job I have a menu plan with the food for that organised as the fridge looks rather bare - old mother hubbard springs to mind! I'll be checking fridge/freezer/storecupboard so I can then utilize what I already have in and buy the bare minimum of more food. I've just had a thought that I have some leeks in the fridge that were on offer, I could use them to make some leek and potato soup - it'll use up some of the yukky potatoes, I'll do that later then I'll have soup for tomorrow's lunch and Saturdays' when I get in from work.
Have good Thursdays' everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Another flying visit fro me, absolutely freezing here, the heating came on at 4am, turned on by the frost protection, brrr.
I have bought more uniform for my DGS, the poor kid has been wearing the same unwashed trousers since before half term. I shall take them round this morning and he can get changed.
DD1's hubby and mine are doing a tip run this afternoon, trying to dig out the hell hole that is DD2's house.
I'm off to do the school run then on to work.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Good morning everyone.
Yesterday I had a glorious drive down to Glasgow, the winter sun was out and trying really hard to warm up the place. All the way down the water was still and sparkling away. It makes up for all the bad days.
Today is the funeral so the day will revolve round that. Tomorrow is my birthday so I'm pleased the two events don't coincide.
Camelot - I didn't get a Sonos but plumped for a little red Bose instead. I collected it on the way down and set it up here in about 15 seconds flat. Very happy with it.
I have no idea about the weather or food today. Day will be 'fluid'.
Happy Thursday everyone.0 -
Morning all. A cold frosty start but then sun is forecast. So much better than the relentless wind and rain we had all January.
Oh CSARINA I do hope they can get you sorted out quickly. It's time you had a change of fortune, you've had such a bad time all through winter.
The 3 DGD's are all still asleep but will need to get them up and sorted out for school shortly. The youngest (5) was right off it yesterday and if she's any worse we'll have to keep her off. It might mean postponing our food shop depending how she is. Never mind, plenty in so won't starve!
They are all back again tonight after their swimming and diving clubs but have yet to christen tea. It'll probably be a pasta bake of some sort and garlic bread, as they are always ravenous after the exercise!
Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed and take care xx GERS hope the funeral goes as well as a funeral can do x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning everyone
It's freezing cold here this morning but at least it is going to be another dry day. It really does me good to see the sun shining. Hubby is nearly out the door for work and the girls are just getting up.
I have another quiet day planned but I might ring my friend to see if she has time for a coffee. Failing that I will ring my sisters up for a chat and to see what is happening with them. I don't like spending too much time on my own as it leads to over thinking things which in turn makes my mood dip.
I was sorry to hear about your health worries csarina, I'm glad the doctors are looking out for you. Hopefully you will soon start to feel better.
Good news about ginge too, Judi, that must be such a relief for you.
I am going to make a lasagne for tea so will prepare it all this morning while I have some energy to do it. At least I know the family will eat it all as it is one of their favourites. PayDay tomorrow, hooray! I will pay all the bills and see what is left for everything else.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
Edited to add that I will be thinking of you Gers at the funeral. Hope it all goes as well as it can x0 -
Very quick visit to say hello and I must get to work, have to do the prep for a meeting later and have been so busy that have not even had time to yjink it through in advance.
Hope everyone well though see that this us not so for everyone, all I can do is send positive thoughts and must be off xxI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning ll
Very cold here but clear and dry, the washing is ready to go out, I just need to pluck up the courage to go and hang it out!
Gers - I looked at that too, I may get one for outside if funds allow. Hope today goes ok.
csarina - Hope you get some answers soon and feel better.
tru - Sounds like Scampi is beginning to enjoy himself, all your hard work is paying off.
Work is incredibly busy at the moment, can't order anything after tomorrow due to the year end so the rush is on. About an hour of every morning is spent trying to chase up children who haven't come into school - if only parents would phone us.
Anyway, off to brave the garden with the washing. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
Cold and frosty here too but looks like it will be a nice day. Off to work for me first day in my temporary role quite looking forward to it !

Csarina lets hope they get you sorted quickly xx
Judi good news re ginge xx
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning((((((((((hugs))))))))))if you need one. DB woke with palpitations at 6am, he is sleeping just now, supposed to be getting his arm checked, will see how he is later. Looks like the quilting group will be off today!!
We have an appointment with the cardiologist for tomorrow for him, he should be ok for that, will see how the day goes.0 -
Morning everyone,
Dry here and bit of a frost, OH is going to scrap my car in a minute, bless him.
Have a couple of meetings today, one to set my objectives for the coming year, apparently this is something that happens in February. The second one is the monthly credit control review and tbh am in two minds as to how to play it, basically the ledger is in a mess! It stands at under a million but with a large proportion of old debt, going back years. Had less debt on my old ledger of £7million and need to understand how it got this bad. Anyways, we will see ::(
Csarina my heart goes out to you, you've had so much on your plate over the last few months, hugs.
Gers hope today goes as well as possible. It's also my birthday tomorrow so guess the best people and all that0 -
Morning all,
Woke twice in the night thanks to my twitchy bladder and found it hard to switch off in between.
Grandson day today. He's quite happy to amuse himself these days.
I'm happy this morning...Long may it continue.
Thinking of all of our poorlies and troubled in spirit.
Onwards and forwards
Have a great day allThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
