O/S Daily Tuesday 23 February 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

DH up and getting ready for work. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.

Still dark, but looks damp underfoot but no frost.

Dinner last night was gammon steaks, egg, roasted new pots, peas, and cheese sauce, ice cream for dessert. Tonight will be fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg – quick and easy as hairdresser is booked for haircuts tonight.

Hoping the technology is sorted at work today – we lost all systems and telephone lines yesterday and didn’t get that back. We had an electrician working in an cupboard where all the internet/telephone lines/electrical wires are and 10 mins after he started working we lost all our systems he maintains he hasn’t touched anything – but all the systems are connected to head office and the other offices – and we’re the only one’s without a system – we’re convinced he’s done something in the cupboard, we have had this before where a workman did something and the systems went down. Hope we have a system as we literally can’t do anything without it, as everything is now internet based – we can’t even scan docs etc. It didn’t break down so spectacularly when we used pen and paper, this is progress apparently ……..!

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning, just a quick post before I head off to earn our living.

Not raining so washing machine is about to finish a load for OH to hang out and he also needs to collect the car and shop. Car was ready yesterday but not until very late and the garage would've closed before he could get there.

I want to start and finish early today. Slept well but I would like to know how to build a 'sleep bank' which would cushion the bad nights.

Must whizz off hope everyone has good days.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Flying visit from me, I'm off to help with the school run and then off to work.
LW DD has got her dogs with her, so we don't need to look after them.
I'm going to her new house after work to look after her twins whilst she goes to the old house to clean it ready for the new people move in.
    Have a great day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning All

Cold and frosty this morning, WM is on doing its stuff so will risk putting that out before I go to work, apparently it is to stay dry!

Not much happening here, went for logs yesterday after work so that's a job done thank goodness. Felt really tired when I got home, laid on the bed to read and woke up an hour later!

HH - hope DD and family are settling in.
Hugs BB, that seems to be a long wait to see the doc.
TA - Have a good day out.

    Take care. XX
  • Morning all. Hit and miss night for me (again!) When the GP put me on the new tablets for IC the side effect of drowsiness helped me sleep better, but I guess my body got used to them and that effect wore off sadly.

Just checked the forecast for the Morecambe Bay area and it's still forecasting sun all day, though cold! So we will be setting off well wrapped up in our thermals and winter woollies and looking forward to a bracing walk along the seafront. I am packing a bit of lunch for us to eat on the train and we will treat ourselves to a pub meal before heading home early evening.

Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed and take care xx

    Morning all,

Very cold here this morning I have put the fire on in the lounge for a while off to work again but it should be quieter as school holiday have finished.

Some nice fish for dinner with new potatoes and broccoli, dd will have something veggi with hers.

Need to do a wash tonight, work t-shirts, they gave us three each and often we do a seven day shift :( they refuse to give us any more too ! so I am always washing them !

TA enjoy your day out I must admit I would much rather be going out than off to work !

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone,

Another one here who has to post and run, yesterday went ok but seemed horrendously slow and the hot, stuffy atmosphere in the office meant I coughed a fair bit. Managed to get out for fresh air at lunchtime which was good.

Another whole day today and then off tomorrow, we are meeting eldest SS for breakfast which will be lovely as haven't seen him for weeks, bless him he works hard at his studies and part-time to fund them.

Take care folks, get well wishes to poorlies xx

    Morning everyone.

Yesterday I kept busy in the house and had a good walk in town. I parked the car on the front and walked up the Main Street and round to the supermarket then back a longer way. Despite that I only clocked up 5,000 steps, halfway at least.

I used up the cauliflower yesterday. I had overcooked it so it was a tad watery but I wasn't going to waste it. Today I've got some more cooked chicken to use up.

The digital TV man is coming today - I think - as I want proper CCTV in the back garden so I can see what's happening in there with the wildlife. OH put up a different kind of camera which doesn't record just views live, whilst it's good it means that I miss everything as I can't possibly watch it all day, so I miss seeing the wee red squirrel most of the time.

It's so wonderful to have the light coming back to the mornings.

TA - have a great trip!

    Happy Tuesday everyone.

    Morning all,

I,m in leave this week, and waking up at normal time :( you wait till the day I go back to work, I bet I could sleep for England....

Got to take DS to orthodontist later today, he was assaulted some months back, and the little !!!!!! broke my sons jaw - luckily, no lasting damage, but he will need a brace, hence the reason for the appointment - hoping jaw is healed enough to take the brace.
DD and the rest of the volenteers were treated to a day a local hotel at the weekend, she met some locals and some local wildlife

    Hi everyone,

DD is 33 today! Where has all that time gone? We have a very hectic birthday season until the beginning of April and then, apart from DS in June we have nothing until next January.

I've got the dentist this morning, I'm slowly having my metal fillings replaced with white ones. It makes such a difference I wish I'd had it done years ago even though I hate having a filling.

Have a lovely day TA, we shall be in Hellifield at the weekend so I hope the weather stays fine.

    Have a good day.
  • Morning ((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))) if you need one. It never rains but it pours, OH has broken a tooth this morning, his teeth have never been that good, this one is at the bottom, he says it does not hurt, but you can bet your bottom dollar that it will soon, more expense, still trying to pay back the money from the move.

I am off to the Drs shortly to see about my breathlessness, fingers crossed its nothing to do with the pacemaker, my heart seems to be beating ok as far as I can tell. I also need to ask him about a nagging pain in my leg, its not swollen, but unless I have my leg up it aches.

No laundry done which is peeving me, the wretches rotary dryer snapped yesterday and dumped my laundry on the grass, fortunately it was dry so no damage done.
