O/S Daily Wednesday 24 February 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
DH up and gone to work early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.
Still dark, but looks very frosty and cold.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg for the menfolk, I had a piece of smoked fish, jacket potato and veg, ice cream for dessert. I’ve swapped the menu plan about and tonight we’re having shepherds pie (which I’ll make this afternoon) I remembered to get the meat out to defrost, this is meat that I’ve saved from previous meals, I’m going to see how much is there and if needed will add to it make some nice tasty gravy and add some veg, then I’ll serve it with LO cauli/broc cheese, brussels, Yorkshires, I’ll probably do a few roast potatoes with it too.
Yesterday at work we still had no technology but it transpires that someone somewhere had gone through a cable and the engineers had been working all night to find the fault, we’re not the only one’s affected, there’s domestic customers that are too, so I had to go to work at the other office but not until I gone to my normal place of work and someone else was supposed to go and she refused, I wasn’t bothered about going and I actually had something to do! Got an early finish out of also to compensate for the travelling time and I’d also been asked by my boss to go early yesterday to sort out the machine that we thought would be all back working along with the technology but it wasn’t, so they owed me some time. Only working until lunchtime today, then on days’ off but I am working Saturday so won’t feel much like time off as we’re out most of the day Sunday too, so need to be on top of everything over the next couple of days. Hoping everything's working at it should at work today, we have so many people came back just in the short time I was there yesterday who had been told to return, that will be worse today.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Minus 4 here this morning so the car needs scraping, brrr.
The fish have been fed, I'm waiting for the kettle to boil so I can make a cuppa.
Once we've had that it will be time to go, I shall be helping DD2 with the early morning and the school run, then on to work, it's very busy and very difficult, my boss's boss has stopped me ordering paper, so it's pretty difficult to do my job. I'm getting moaned at a lot which seriously pi$$es me off.
I went over to see DD1's temporary house yesterday, Saturday we are going back to help with the plumbing.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all
Woke up an hour ago in the middle of a dream. Yes it was a dream not a nightmare. I went shopping to buy fabric for a wedding dress. My wedding dress.
Strange dream for a woman to have that's been married for 30 years.
TA. Thinking of you I've got a UTI. I hope your ok.
Onwards and forwards

Morning :hello:

I met up with a lovely OSer yesterday, Scampi met her deerhound - beautiful girl! The field is just down the road from my house, Scampi managed to make the short walk there eventful (I'm being polite, lol) so I was worried he'd play up when he met them. But as soon as I let him off the lead, he found his manners and was great. I kept telling him how proud I wasThere was a great moment – she led down, he sat near her and she rested her head on his back for a second. I'm cross with myself for not taking my camera with me, it would've made a great photo.
I've been sewing in the ends on my cushion covers and crocheting the backs and fronts together, I've only managed to finish two so far but my sofa is already looking much better. The old covers were fine by themselves but looked like an exploded rainbow when they were all on the sofas, it was too much
Not sure what's happened to the drawers in the house, they seem to have become a dumping ground for bits and pieces that the others can't be bothered to put away properly. I'm going to start clearing them out and cleaning them, only putting back what should be there. I have some mushroom crates, they're going to be filled with the extra stuff - one basket per person - and handed to the owners to sort out. I sorted the drawers not long ago so am a bit miffed that it's happened again. Perhaps I should put padlocks on them, lol.

Morning All
Great news elona - a busy few days ahead for you!
csarina - Hope DH is ok, you are certainly having a rough time, hope things improve for you.
I was at Costc0 last night, mainly for toilet rolls (lots for other people too), bought new towels so they are in the WM ready to go out today. I went with a colleague/friend from work, we bought a ready cooked chicken, picked DD up from work, took her home and had the chicken for tea, very yummy!
Not much on today apart from a busy day at work, take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
Very cold here this morning too have not checked temp but everything is covered in a sharp frost.
Off to work for me today I have been asked to be deputy manager whilst my boss is away on holiday, I am quiet looking forward to the challenge so the next two weeks will be interesting !
Off to work today then mums for dinner tonight, don't know what she is cooking but it will be delish Im sure.
Elona great news, now get packing !! xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all.Just read back on yesterday's happenings whilst I was AWOL. Lots of hugs needed. CSARINA hope you get sorted out and poor DH, he's really been in the wars. ELONA oh I don't envy you. Hope the move goes smoothly. Unlike Csarina we've only moved once in our 43 years of married life and I still remember, 35 years later, what a nightmare it was! Lovely pics ISLANDMAID. What opportunities there are for our young people these days. A small world for them. When I was young I remember going to the Isle of Man and feeling I had sailed to the other side of the world!!
We had a lovely day out yesterday. There was blue sky and sunshine all day long and it felt Springlike at last. We walked about 3 miles round the Bay, stopping off for a coffee on route. Kept stopping to admire the views across to the Lakeland fells and detoured into Happy Mount Park (not been in there since our kids were young!) for a sit down in the sunshine. We then felt we had walked enough and got the bus back! By then it was 5.00 and time for tea! Enjoyed steak, chips and all the trimmings and shared a bottle of wine, before heading for the 7.08 train and the 2 hour journey home!! A thoroughly nice day!
Today will be spent catching up on jobs sadly. Then we have the 3 DGDs for tea, sleepover and school runs in the morning. I think tea will be sausage, mash, veg, Yorkshire puds and lots of gravy. My yummy sausage order is due this week and I still have quite a lot left from last month, so better get some used up!
JUDI hope your uti got nipped in the bud. Mine are being kept at bay just now but only because I am on a/b's all the time. The IC is so much better though with the new tablets. No spasms or gripping pains, which is heaven. I see the GP again Friday for review and results of blood tests. What fun it is getting old!
Have a good day all (((HUGS))) to all wanting/needing them and take care. Another nice, but cold, day forecast hope it's the same for you xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone,
Bit of a lie-in on my day off but girls have now been walked, it's a cold and frosty day so hopefully we will see some sun.
We are meeting eldest SS for brunch this morning so looking forward to catching up on all his news and then will get out on my boy for a good long hack, can't wait.
Csarina your poor OH, sending loads of well wishes.
Tru and TA sounds like you both had good days yesterday, they certainly lift the spirits don't they.
Have a good day everyone x0 -
Good Morning chums, bright and sun shiny this morning even though there is a thick white frost everywhere.Today is my gorgeous handsome DGS Jacks 16th birthday he has an early finish at his school today because of a parents evening (not his) so he is a happy bunny
:):) I shall be a busy lady today as well Hairdressers at 9.00 for a trim, then a sociology class from 10-12 at U3A then whiz home for lunch Then off to Dds house to see said Grandson and give him card, cuddle and present.Doesn't seem five minutes ago he was toddling around in his babygrows. Now he is tall, slim and handsome like his big brother Ben and looking to start 6th form in September.Tempus fugit.
My big brother Davey is coming tomorrow from France for a few days and I'm really looking forward to seeing him, as its two years since he has been over and his health hasn't been brilliant recently. But we shall make the most of him time here I am hoping he will bring some warmer weather with him:):)
Right time to get a wriggle on. I think some porridge for breakfast as that will warm me up
Have a good day every one what ever you are doing

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's bright, sunny and freezing cold here at the moment, hopefully it will warm up in a bit though. Hubby and the girls have gone off to work/school ok. Hubby has been given a payrise so he is over the moon.
It sounds like quite a few of you had a great day yesterday. Hopefully today will be just as nice. My CMHT lady came to see me and she will be back in a few days as I am not as well as I could be. It was good to see her and I felt better after she had gone though.
Last night hubby made a massive pan of beef stew for dinner today which is fab as I am not up to cooking at the moment. I will make a few dumplings to go in it as they are my family's favourites.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning everyone.
It's frosty here too, all the fields are white out there.
As I wrote last night my drawer expedition yesterday was scary, so much stuff and too many duplications for comfort. I've got some plastic shoe boxes which are being redeployed into drawer use. The drawer is very deep so it's best with divisions and boxes. Don't think I need to buy creams or potions for the next five years. Or shower gels.
Last night I had a great technological time with the boys. One skiing in France, well oiled, and the other three in Australia. I love using Face*ime though more the audio than video at night!
Today I have to get a white load on and pack a bit for my trip to Glasgow. I'll be leaving after the wm finishes. Tomorrow is the funeral of my friend so I need some less casual clothes and proper shoes, my walking boots won't be good!
Food is just an eggy breakfast and then in the laps of the gods.
TA -Tru..what lovely reports from you two. They made me smile.
Right, off to get started. Happy Wednesday everyone.0
