What temperature to keep food warm in oven?
Hello all, I really can't cook but I am wondering, what temperature should I keep a Sunday roast beef dinner with all the vegetables in the oven all on a plate to keep it warm/hot and should I cover it with silver foil or anything? and should I put the oven on the oven symbol or the grill symbol? Everytime I have tried…

Does anyone use Method cleaning products
I've just spent £8 in John Lewis on Method floor cleaner and furniture polish. I've just tried them out and can't see any difference in this and the usual stuff I use. They smell good but that's about all.

Broad Bean tips
I've read that these are edible, and as we have taken the tips out of our broad beans today (and they are not covered with Black fly) I am about to try cooking them to go with our braised pheasant. Apparently you boil them and they are like spinach/spring greens.........I'll let you know! Has anyone else tried them?

Fruit flies - I think
I've got loads of little flies unfortunately I have an open plan kitchen/lounge/diner so I'm sure this is not helping. I'm growing Basil which is supposed to keep them at bay - but they seem to like it. They also seem to like my Parsley and Coriander. I have a small amount of red in a bottle which I've tried for a few days…

What do you make in your pestle and mortar?
DH bought me a huge stone pestle and mortar for my birthday, and for quite a while I just used it to crush peppercorns :o Yesterday I crushed the ginger, garlic and chillies for a curry base (so much easier and fun than chopping), then made garam masala in it (thank you to the lovely Joolzred for the recipe on her thread…

My chicken stock is a gelatinous mess
Made chicken stock as normal overnight in the slow cooker and left it to cool down before straining to freeze. Lifted the lid, took the first scoop and am confronted with a 'set' stock. First off, what happened? Never had a chicken carcass produce that before. Second, I'm going to have to heat it up to get to liquify so I…

Black bell peppers - ideas?
I`ve got some (YS!) black bell peppers from Morrisons and now I`m wondering what to do with them. They look just like the others except for the colour, and I doubt there`s any real difference in taste, but I`m wondering what they look like when cooked, and if they`d sort of `discolour` other stuff, like rice for eg. Has…

Anyone remember School Dinner Pink Iced Tray Bake? I'm hunting for a recipie..
Ahh, that pink iced tray bake from school... such very fluffy & moist plain sponge that it was barely there and had to be held down with lashings of bright pink icing with sprinkles! ... does anyone know the recipie? I guess I could try any plain sponge but that one was particularly fluffy and moist at the same time. (I…

I think this is a brilliant idea
I went to Great Malvern yesterday but missed the show I was going to see by a country mile. Public transport!! Still the money went to a good cause. However, Great Malvern is a lovely place to go sight seeing (right down to free mineral water from a decorated spring on Belle Vue Terrace) so I had a pootle round. And…

Expensive Organic Meat - How do I stretch it out?
I have bought a box of meat from an Organic Farm and I would like to stretch it out as much as possible... but some of the cuts are unusual from what I would normally eek out like mince or a whole chicken. For example, there are four small/medium sirloin steaks. I wouldn't want to waste the steaks on just one meal like…
