Hi,
I have just made a large lasagne for dinner, but have decided to freeze it.
My question is, can I freeze the lasagne in the tin (aluminum) as it is?
Thanks

Hi
yes you can freeze it as it is I do it all the time and it comes out just fine. I always defrost it before reheating it though.1 Sealed Pot Challenge # 1480

It depends on how you want to reheat it. There's only two of us so I do loads and freeze in plastic takeaway containers. That way I can microwave it straight from the container ( I don't defrost first) I've also done one in an oven proof dish that is bigger enough for both of us I will cook it from frozen but not pre heat oven first.0

A tip I've learnt from DH who takes my HM lasagne into work on a night shift - add a splash of water to the defrosted lasagne before re-heating in the microwave. It stops it drying out
I also use the plastic takeaway containers and split into individual portions before freezing so that they can be eaten on an ad hoc basisWhether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0 -
Of course as this is money saving I never have takeaways. I just bought a job lot of containers.0

That's just what I do. Especially as I do a quorn one and a vege one. Have also found the best containers are the tubs from Asda. I even have some oven dishes that are the same size. Sometimes I just slip the frozen lasagne/Shepherd pie into the dish. Zap and oven to crisp up.0 -
You can freeze it in the tin and cook like that from frozen (foil or a baking tray over it so it doesn't burn early), but then you also lose use of your tin for a while! You can turn the frozen lasange out and wrap in paper, foil or a breadbag and put it back in the freezer. If defrosting overnight, put it in the original tin to defrost.
Once I tried to line the tin with foil, and greased it, before cooking, so the lasagne could be lifted out and frozen. Bad idea. It took me ages to peel the foil off in tiny little bits once I'd took it out of the freezer!
