O/S Daily Tuesday 8th April 2014

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, damp underfoot although not raining at the moment, blustery again, forecast is that it will brighten up later, so will take the risk and put the washing out in a mo.

DH has man flu – being a right man baby – less said the better!

Dinner last night was pork loins, mash, veg and gravy. I managed to get the veg prepped before I went to work yesterday morning – so all I had to do was cook it last night. Managed to get home and make the telephone call that I needed to – and that resulted in some better news than I expected so am now much happier and feel more settled. If I get chance tonight when I get in, I’ll make another phone call which isn’t so urgent but could prove fruitful.

Work as expected yesterday was a manic Monday – we didn’t stop all day and at 1 point had 7 people waiting to be seen, all the advisors were seeing people and there was a queue to the door, and the waiting area was full with people lining the walls as there were no seats left. Today will be another busy one as so many people came in saw how busy we were and said they would come back today – at least the day goes by really quickly!

Dinner tonight will be fish, chips and beans for the menfolk. I’ll have fishcake, jacket potato and veg.

DS2 comes home from his trip tomorrow – can’t believe how quickly this week has gone – hoping he has had a good time and got some great memories. School trips and holidays hold some really good memories for me from my childhood.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Wet again this morning but I can see blue skies. It was showery yesterday but cleared up later and the washing dried, just finished it off in the TD, bedding went back on the bed!

Managed to finish painting a mirror frame yesterday, I got it at the tip and DD has claimed it for her room. Just need to finish the chest of drawers that is cluttering up the kitchen!

Not feeling too good today, the toilet kept me hostage most of yesterday afternoon and still feeling a little ropey, quite hot too.

Off to the big blue and yellow shed to get some furniture if I feel ok to get furniture for DS2s room. Can only buy a flat packed wardrobe as the turn at the top of the stairs is too tight for a ready built one. Talking of DS2 he should be back in the UK some time today, he's visiting and going to a wedding till Sunday so should get to see him then. The 6 months he has been away has flown by. Hope he remembers we have moved! He's never been to this house.

Hope the poorlies are recovering, esp JackieO and Molly. LW do you still have your princesses?

Have a good day, take care. XX

Morning Nmlc and all who follow,

Had a lovely day yesterday even though it was raining. Aunt and Uncle came for a visit, DD came over with DGC. Had fish & chips for lunch too!:T

Going out to lunch again today:j My friend and I have been trying to do this for two years, and I always seem to do something to myself (Broken arm, ankle, in hospital etc!) So hopefully it will happen today.

Sold my tumble dryer last night. It's only a little one and makes a noise, but grl who bought it for £10 was happy. I only used it for towels anyway.

Heard about Peaches Geldof last night. How awful, such a young girl, and Mum to two young boys. That family has certainly had it's share of tragedy. sending prayers to them.

Love to JackieO and Molly xx
    HAve a good day all!

    Morning all
    Sunny & breezy here today
I hope Molly & JackieO are ok, LW hope your wrists are holding up.
Best laid plans & all that, got nothing done y'day as DD2 phoned at 9, any chance I could have the DGC whilst she had a Dr's appointment. I dropped hubby at work at 10, went to DD2's, looked after her 3 plus 2 extra til DD2 got back, Dr sent her for urgent blood test so brought the kids back to mine & did arts & crafts, lunch & baking (we made muffins & a loaf of bread) til DD got back from the hospital.
MIL is in hospital today having 'something' removed from her bladder, hopefully we will hear later how she is, no point phoning FIL as he will get drunk as soon as her back is turned, really hope it's nothing serious. I'm the only DIL without young children so will do what I can but we're an hours drive away, plus my DD's both need support, it's only weeks til DD1 has the twins.
Hubby went to work y'day & had a meeting with his line manager, one of his team is leaving & then the other one is on holiday, Hubby made himself ill last time this happened as he is expected to do all the work single handed, hopefully he's made it plain that he has limits to what he can do on his own, if not I shall be having words with his line manager & I won't be as polite as him.
Fish have been fed, washing on the line, 2 loads dried on the maiden yesterday & the WM & DW are both chugging away.
I'm hoping to get the sewing machine out today after I've dropped hubby at work, but that's not til 2pm, so ironing & vacuuming this morning.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Good morning all,
After a day of rain yesterday and for most of the night, it is a beautiful day today. Hopefully my washing will get dry as there is a good breeze blowing.
I will take Jasper for a nice long walk today. Hubby is in bed as he has work again tonight. DD has got college and then a driving lesson.
Tea tonight is chicken with salad.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Hester Hope all is well with Mil.

    Molly, JackieO Hugs.

    Julie How is the leg?

LW Have fun with the "girls".

Sun is shining here this morning. I will spend some time in the garden today as the only thing that I have planned is a family visit to the dentist!

Heard from a friend last night that a school friend had died of breast cancer last week, puts things in perspective doesn't it. she was only 49.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning :)

Lovely and sunny here but brrrrr bit chilly.
Just having my coffee before we walk Luna. Assuming I can drag DS from his room, he's gone in there in a massive strop. First one of the day.....will there be more? Going into town after and getting kids feet measured and new shoes so buy shares in Clark's, I am about to give nice fat dividend :rotfl:
Hubby's steering on the car isn't working properly, not sure if that's the steering fluid but jeez I am so sick of cars at the moment. We never seem to get a moments peace with them

Tea will be left over's from yesterday.

Hugs and spoons all round xx

  • Good morning everyone :)

Lovely day here and very blowy so have the washing out on the line and another load in the washing machine.

Stuffed peppers in the slow cooker for dinner. Need to sort out a menu plan for the rest of the week, have not been organised with being off for a long weekend. Need to do a freezer check too.

Bought a gorgeous Boden skirt from a charity shop yesterday for £4, was actually looking for tops but this was irresistible.

Hope JackieO and Molly are doing well, recovering, resting and getting lots of TLC x

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)
