Plate drying rack
Silly question really but thought I would ask those that are likely to know. Plate drying racks, which is better, plastic or metal? I've had plastic in the past and not had a problem. I'm tempted by a metal one but worry I might be more likely to chip plates etc. Any guidance? Thanks in advance.

Plastic thingy with a handle that Chefs use for bread dough and pastry
Hi, I've been watching too many cookery programmes lately, but was watching a trailer for the new Paul Hollywood Bread programme and it suddenly struck me that I have never seen one of the oblong scraper things with a handle for sale anywhere. I'm not sure what they are called, and have looked in vain on Lakeland site,…

Transporting a Roast Dinner

I do not know the kitchen I wll use at all and do not want to make any fuss. I have foil roasting tins and freezer trays with lids. I have never reheated…

Mulled wine in Bourgignon instead of normal red?
Hope this is in the right place .... Normally i would never even contemplate using this for cooking, as it is my favourite wine. However, i don't really drink anymore (just gone off it); and this has been open a while now, with the intent that i would drink the rest. I bought a normal bottle of red to use for the…

getting a sewing machine serviced
Hi, I've got a question for people who have a sewing machine. Recently I've noticed mine is playing up a bit and I think it could do with being serviced. I got it second hand a while ago, and the previous owner hadn't used it in ages. The trouble is I don't have a car so getting it to a sewing machine repairer might prove…

What was your childhood diet?
I grew up in the 80's and my diet was a reasonably healthy one with a mixture of homemade and processed foods, my mum worked full time so cooked from scratch (shepherds pie/kedgeree type meals) when she had time and fed us fish fingers, mash and peas type meals when she didn't. Her mum (my grandmother) fed her a terrible…

Do you think this is safe to eat?
I made some HM strawberry ice cream with Elmlea and single cream - 50/50 mix - and froze it about 2 months ago... In the instruction booklet that came with the maker it says that ice-cream should be eaten within a week... should I throw it out or can I eat it. Thanks. Tiddly
