i really really need help from some-one.
i have £20 in my purse to last me until the 27th of march. is this possible?
there is just me and my little girl and this needs to include food any outings etc.
i don't want to say this but i will- this isn't a begging thread, i genuinely would like help and advice.
i do have other money available but if i use it then i will be in the same position next month. so im trying to break the cycle of being broke half way through the month, then borrowing, then having to pay back which makes me broke.....etc
anyone around?

Hi, what food do you have in your house?
Can any family members or friends feed you for some of the days?0 -
hello- thanks for replying.
we go to my grandparents for Sunday lunch so that's 2 days lunch sorted. and my little girl has her tea at nursery 3 days a week, but she does need a snack when she comes home.
i work 3 days a week so take my lunch.
i will go and make a list of our food.....0 -
Just a quick one as I'm off to sleep but ... Check out the Grocery Challenge thread on Oldstyle, as well as the £7 a week food thread. If you have a well stocked store cupboard, you can get by for a little while spending a tiny amount, as long as you are not too fussy about what you eat. Everyone's circumstances are different, but here at Old Style we kind of pride ourselves on helping out newbies and putting our heads together to come up with solutions.
Give us as much info as you can re what you eat as a rule and what you have in the cupboards just now and we'll do our best to help. Many of us have been in the same boat at one time or another.

Have a look at a girl called Jack website, she has some great meal ideas on £10 a week for her and her son.
There is also thread for £7.00 a week on here.0 -
Hi,
It can be done, trust me, I've there and got the certificate.
First of all take breath and let it out slowly.
Next get a pen and paper and write all the food you have in the cupboards, fridge and freezer.
Then make a cuppa and write it here along with some ideas of the kind of food you like to eat.
Also does this include breakfast, lunch, pack lunch, snacks and evening meals. Sorry if this seems intrusive just trying to gt an ideas for helping create a meal plan.0 -
aw thanks downsizing-you're so nice.
i don't think we are massively fussy- neither of us are keen on casserole. i don't know if i just make them wrong but Ive slow cooked them in the past and they were naff.
little girl pretends she doesn't like bread but she eats it at nursery.....
we have in stock.....
5 bananas
1 orange
whole punnet of strawberries
whole punnet of blueberries
1 plum
1/2 pineapple
big bunch of grapes
3 cartons of kids orange juice
283g mince x 2
1/2 tin ravioli
1/2 broccoli
1/2 cauli
1 onion
3 carrots
whole lettuce
spring onions
4 eggs
handful of mushrooms
new potatoes- about 10 i think but quite big
3 x kids yogurts
6 fishfingers
12 sausages
lasagne ready meal- quite big i think its for 2 adults
cooking bacon
3 mini chicken fillets
frozen peas
frozen herbs
frozen mixed veg
tin of carrots
tin of sweetcorn
family size dolmio
tin of tuna
sweet and sour sauce
rice
pasta

gravy pots (yuk!)
cream crackers
beef stock cubes
sugar
plain flour
sr flour
tom puree
mayonaise
1/2 box cheerios
phew thats actually quite a lot, found some things i forgot i had as well.
ive got the cooking bacon out of the freezer and with that the 2 packs of mince, onion, carrots, mushrooms and dolmio im going to make a huge bolognese tomorrow.
that should last us a few days.
thought some cheapy cream cheese would be good for a snack after nursery- cream crackers with cream cheese and fruit.
only other thing is my lunch at work needs to be cold as the queue for the microwave is disturbing.
thanks to anyone who can help x0 -

If they say you can feed a family of four for £100 a month you can feed yourself and your littlie on £20 for a week and a half. A lot depends on what sort of stores you have, though0 -

erm....we usually go out for lunch! oh dear.
i usually buy my lunch from the canteen at work, twice a week i will take baby out somewhere (softplay, library) and we always end up in a cafe.
we might eat at home once a week and we will usually share a tin of tomato soup, or have scrambled eggs.
i dont know why we go out for lunch so much as we have the same things i can make at home.
its quite sobering "confessing" all of this.0
