maybe see if can afford cherry tomatoes 31 as can be used cheese/tomato sandwiches, snacks and salads, pasta

I know morrisions value rolls were 35p for 12.

    Hi,

I think your plan is pretty good, regarding the fresh fruit. One idea could be to make muffins with some of them. I do it all the time. Or if you they about to go off bung them straight into the freezer. Then when you want to a snack just take out the freezer, they defrost really quickly.

I wouldn't buy smoked bacon rashers, instead we buy cooking bacon or bacon bits. Its basically just bacon off cuts. It lasts ages and works great n sauces, risottos etc
Second cold pasta for lunch its a regular for us.

How about pancakes for breakfast / snack?
    100 grams self raising flour
    1tsp of cinnamon (optional)
    Enough cold water to bind

Place say 2tbsp of the batter in a pan. One browned, flip then serve.

    Cheap and very filling.

As for the bolgnese sauce how portioning it up and freezing it. Then just defrost on the morning before work.
Another idea is chilli, just add kidneys and bit of spice to the bolognese sauce and voila chilli. Then serve with rice.
Any leftover rice you could make egg fried with.

Scrambled eggs, beans and fish fingers together are fine. That's something I wouldn't worry about.

Another snack could be trifle. Filling and will like treat on hard days.
    Cheap basic jelly
One tin of cheapest fruit or fresh fruit
Basic custard powder (just add hot water to it to mix)

Just make up the jelly in a dish, tip the fruit and its juices into the jelly.
While it coolng make up the custard and leave to cool
When jelly is set and custard over the top and leave to set.
    There you go trifle.

I'll make some more suggestions as I'm shattered.

    Good luck xxxx

Wraps are very easy to make, tried for the first time last month, I think I may still buy some when on offer for convenience but in this situation you could make them a lot cheaper. The main ingredients are just flour and water!

I don't even have baking powder in my cupboard so I think I either switched all or half of the plain flour for self-raising, or just skipped it completely. Either way, they still turned out pretty good!

Good idea about chilli morrisions did do value kidney beans and chili powder but was gaes over a year since brought those things fro them so not sure on prices.

    Trifle another good idea.

only readon i said wouldent mix eggs with fishfingers as its 2sources protein.

I try to balance plate with 1protein, carbs and 1portion of veg

my kids tend to have finshfingers and chips with mixed frozen veg or beans or peas.

sometimes they have with potatoes and peas.

Im going to try that wrap recipe.

I tried a native american flatbread recipe last year from jamie olivers americas cook book.

we did pancakes yesterday for breckfast but my recipe included eggs, milk and flour.

Talking pancakes did this last year not exactly to recipe but new cheap spin on panacake as pastas just flour and water.

    cook pancakes
fry some veg onion, mushrooms, gariic add cream chese and few mushrooms.
then place inside pancakes roll up then cut into slice and esure they tightly rolled up.
    place in baking tray.
pur over passatta/chopped tomatoes mixed with herbs or dolmio
    little grated cheese maybe.

reminds me of pancake cannelloni and i used recipe to inspire me not to the letter.

Thanks the wrap recipe will try that myself.

Well technically it three lots of protein with beans, eggs and fish. But I wouldn't be worried as youngsters have tons of energy so the extra protien will be ideal muscle wise. I could be wrong but I think the eggs and fish together are supposed to produce a triple amount of omega 3 together. This is based on a dietritiam my son saw at the hospital before xmas. Crazy eh?
True with balancing meals I do the same thing most of our meals are balanced correctly. Just a few meals more and fat based as my two boys are really underweight even though eat like horses!

Kidney beans I think are 19p and chilli powder i think is 59p.

Another meal could be pizzas, say a ciabbatta with tomato puree and cheese on top. Or wraps with cheese, tomato puree and bits of ham. Microwave for 1minute till cheese has melted. Really yummy and quick, great for pack lunches too.

Your list looks pretty good, and it's good that you have thought ahead.

Looking at the ingredients you have you could eat without spending more than the bare essentials such as bread and even then push come to shove you could do without as you have the ingredients to make buns, rolls, wraps and pancakes if you are trying tto cut the cost as much as possible.

    Dinner suggestions:

sausage and mash/potatoes and peas (you could mash some carrots with the potatoes to stretch them out for more meals)
    tuna pasta bake
    fishfingers, veg and gravy
    lasagne ready meal and salad
toad in the hole, veg, gravy
    spaghetti bolognaise
bacon wrapped chicken, new potatoes and veg

    lunch:
chicken/bacon salad (with half the spare chicken fillet)
    left over pasta bake
    bacon sandwich
mini jacket potatoes (from the new potatoes) with cream cheese and chives
vegetable rice with chicken (the other half of the spare fillet) and sweet and sour sauce
    veggie pancakes
    raviolli on toast
pasta or rice with veg and home made sauce (chopped tomatoes, herbs?)

    snacks for little one:
    yoghurts
    fruit salad
    crackers

    breakfast:
    toast
    cheerios
    fruit salad
    pancakes

Not the most exciting menu but gets you through the 10 days without needing more groceries.

    Hope all goes well :)
