Washing machine / washer dryer / tumble dryer - how old is yours?

Options
I am wondering how many years a washing machine / washer dryer / tumble dryer is supposed to last. Bought my first washer dryer 7 years ago and it died last weekend. So my Q to you is: how old is your current one? And how old was your last one when it died?

    I'd say 7yrs is reasonable

I'm unsure how long I've had mine prob about 5/6

I just buy a relatively cheap one so that when it goes I don't have to spend half the cost of a new one to get it fixed, and just replace it

Washer, ten years. Old one didn't die, it just wanted to live with my ex-wife.

Drier, two years. Didn't have one before.

Our WM is at least 12 years old, and it even managed to move house with us without suffering. I can't remember how long the previous one lasted. We've never had a washer drier or a tumble drier.

My WM - Siemens - is 9 years old. Previous one Hotpoint - lasted 5 years.

My TD - Creda - is 4 years old. Previous one was a Hotpoint and that lasted 4 years.

I've only ever once had a washer / drier - never again... I couldn't tumble and wash at the same time so laundry took a lot longer to get through. By the way, this was a Hoover and I bought a five year warranty and the man came out 12 times in 5 years - it was a real pain as it was always the same wire that came undone.

I'd recommend a Siemens - they are more expensive but they do a good aftercare service with fixed cost repairs.

For electrical sales I'd always recommend John Lewis because they do a price match, free delivery and have generous warranties. Co Op Electrical are good as well on price and delivery.

I bought our current washer last August, its predecessor lives with DD now, hers broke, ours was getting on (about 12 years old) but still worked so we gifted it to her. Current washer is our 4th in 27 years, if you count one 2nd hand from MIL and one 2nd hand twin tub that DH talked me into in a weak moment! :rotfl: On our 2nd TD in 10 years, this one is about 5 or 6 years old. Not had bad luck with all our appliances, to be honest.

    A xo

I've had this one (Bosch Maxx) for just over ten years and it's still going strong.

I think we'd had the previous one for quite a bit longer than that.

My Miele washer is 10 years old and brilliant.
My previous Miele died aged 10 years; with 4 sons & a whole rugby team to wash for, I reckoned it did at least 20 years' service (my average was 2 full washes a day then)

My last washing machine lasted for 25 years. The current one has been going for 3 years but I doubt very much it will last anything like the last one.
