We've just replaced our washing machine, which was about twenty years old, (Zanussi) with a reconditioned one (Bosch) and a reconditioned dryer,(White Knight), don't know how old they are because they are reconditioned. However, White Knight were happy to sell us an extended warranty for three years for £50 so I don't think the dryer is too old.
Our dishwasher (Bosch) was also reconditioned and we have had it six months, it replaced a really cheap Matsui that kept breaking down.
It's the first time I've ever had a dryer (I'm almost 65) - what a luxury!

I never manage to keep a washer longer than 18 months and ive had a few really expensive washers too. Its got to the stage now where I just have the cheapest (with a high spin speed) and replace it when it goes kaput. Hubby replaces the pump/brushes and other bits and pieces himself but very often its the electronic timer/programme thingy that screws up and of course the floor gets damaged by dragging the thing in and out of the space its in.
The washer I had before this one he decided to buy an extended warranty but it took them days to come out and when hubby is working away I need to wash his clothes on a weekend. His clothes cant wait 6 or 7 days.
Tumble dryers last about 2 years in my house. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
We are on to our third one in 22 years - this current one was a purchase a couple of weeks ago when our last one gave up the ghost. ow the dishwasher has packed in

My washing machine is about 6 months old. Before that, I had a Bendix which lasted 8 years.
My TD is 9 years old and still going strong. I fixed it once, at a total cost of £22, and that's all it has needed.0 -
Our Zanussi washing machine is almost 18 years old, and the main problem we've had with it is the door catch keeps breaking, but luckily OH is very friendly with a local repair man, so we get it done cheaper than it would normally cost. I think the bearings were replaced once as well.
We thought we were going to have to replace it recently, as we kept getting water seeping out from under it, so last Friday I finally got OH to pull the machine out to see where the water was coming from, and we were very pleased to find that it was nothing to do with the washing machine, as the water was coming from the water pipe. As we rent from a housing association I called them up and they sent a plumber a couple of hours later, it turned out that the WM pipe needed a new washer at the end where it attaches to the water pipe, so he replaced that for us and it's been fine ever since.
The tumble dryer is only about 2-3 years old, and I only use it during the winter, and even then only if I can't get the washing out on the line.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

I've got two old reliables, a Zanussi washer/dryer 13 years old, pump replaced 10 years ago, now in third house, still going strong. I also have a Hotpoint vented tumble dryer (second-hand from parents when they upgraded) that's about 16 years old, squeaking a bit, but hanging on!
Fingers crossed they keep on a bit longer!***Mortgage Free Oct 2018 - Debt Free again (after detour) June 2022***

My WM is about 3 months old, my TD 2 years old.
Both are Bosch replacements for Hotpoint appliances that lasted 5 and 3 years respectively. It's fair to say they were both nursed through and not pretty either with, rust bits hanging off etc.
I wasn't that impressed with them tbh hoping the Bosch stuff lasts a bit longer. Can I ever learn this budgeting lark? So far it's not looking promising

I've had my washing machine for 3 years but it was very second hand when I got it! Goodness knows how old it is.
I've had my tumble dryer for 5 years and it was my grandma's before that. I suppose she had had it 5-6 years.0
