Can it be possible to be wholeheartedly OS in London or am I just being a bumpkin?
Hi all, I'm not one hundred percent sure where to look for good advice on this one but the OS boards have never really failed me yet. I'm from the People's Republic of North Wales and whilst I live in Snowdonia, speak Welsh and generally get considered a country bumpkin (joscin by the Welshies) by most, I'm actually a…

Huge admission...but a new start I hope!
Hi everyone Our house is up for sale and I've been having ongoing anxiety about it all. One of the big things (apart from it not selling!) is the awful thought of moving our stuff. We have too much. I've 2 children, a husband who is like a womble and a tendency to keep everything for 'sentimental reasons'. In theory, stuff…

Reducing our grocery spend!
Evening all, I know that a lot of this is probably already covered in other threads but I just wanted to share 'our story' :D It's just OH and I, and the cat, but we've always spent £80-90 a week on groceries, and OH has always said we spend far too much! My reaction to that was always that if we could afford it, so what?!…

Biscuit storage?
Dh wants a biscuit. I would usually solve this with some frozen dough and bake one but i have none made and do not fancy it now. We have a HUGE box of buscuits from IKEA which he could have one or two of, but iirc these fo stale quite quickly, even in a lock and lock tupperware. We do not eat many buscuits, so these are…

Any ideas for a HM uni tuck/treat box please?
DS1 starts Uni next month :( I am going to miss him dreadfully - first of my chicks to leave the nest (albeit term time only!) I want to send him off with a nice HM tuck box but i'm not sure what to put in it, or how long stuff will be good for. I could make some jam as that keeps, but when I make flapjacks or cakes at…

Dress Repair - Seamstresses share your opinion!
I hope I am in the right forum here but I am wondering if there is any way to repair a silky jersey type dress that has a couple of plucks on the front? Unfortunately, I have only worn it once and my bracelet snagged it

Bramble Jelly/Jam
I wonder if someone could advise me regarding homemade bramble jam. I have been picking wild blackberries, and seem to remember when I tried to make jam with them a few years ago, there were so many pips in the jam that it was inedible. I've decided to make bramble jelly this time, but I do like to have some pieces of…

Mealplans WB 27th August
It doesn't look like anyone's started next week's mealplan thread yet so, as I've just done mine, I thought I'd get us started if that's OK? I'm back to freezer-clearing at the moment - I will get there in the end! - everything marked (F) is from my vast frozen storecupboard: Friday - chilli (F) cheese burger (F) and salad…
