DS1 starts Uni next month
I am going to miss him dreadfully - first of my chicks to leave the nest (albeit term time only!)
I want to send him off with a nice HM tuck box but i'm not sure what to put in it, or how long stuff will be good for.
I could make some jam as that keeps, but when I make flapjacks or cakes at home they never last more than 2 days because there are 5 of us eating them. With just him it might take 7 - 10 days to eat a box of flapjacks but will they be bad by then if only kept in a tin on the side?
Any ideas, recipes or advice would be really appreciated! Ty xx

Oh yes - I didn't even think of that! DH and I never went to Uni but I expect having some treats to share would be a good way of sitting down and bonding with new mates. Thank you for mentioning that :T0 -
Ahhh Uni boxes from home are always a lifeline for cash strapped freshers
Chocolate
Flapjacks last about a week in a tin
Biscuits, Crackers
Tortilla Chips and Dips
HM jams and chutneys
Some tinned and packet foods to keep them going. such as corned beef, tuna, pasta, rice etc
A good student cookbook
Toilet rolls (They always run out of these)
Deodorant, Soap, Toothpaste etc
First aid kit
Condoms and Beer are some more must haves
This is a good site for some ides http://www.studentsurvivalkit.co.uk/tag/uni/Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
