Old Style Daily Thread Bank Holiday Monday 27th August 2012

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 27th August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Happy birthday RosyRed :bdaycake: Have a fabulous day x
Hope you are all getting a bank holiday sleep in! I've given up even hoping for one, 10 days off and only one day did I sleep past 8am and that was only cos I'd been up 23hours the day before! Back to work tomorrow.
Steps were amazing yesterday :j. The concert itself was a bit of a shambles though. It was meant to be this huge concert, but only about 300 people were there. Alexandra Burke was meant to be the support act, but she came on early cos it was her birthday and she wanted to get away early! So you had her, then 2 Z list X Factor/BGT bands so the crowd got a bit bored. But Steps really pulled it out of the bag. Everybody was doing the cheesy dance moves, they were really chatty with the crowd, and quite down to earth. Luckily the rain held off. I'd definitely go see them again purely for entertainment value! My inner teen is happy now :rotfl:.
Not sure what I'm up to today. Think I'm going out n about with a friend but no definite plans have been made. It's raining here already . May just cwtch in on sofa and watch films.
OS wise - dishes to wash, hoover, bins to go out, need to either make crumble or freeze the blackberries I foraged yesterday. Lunch/dinner will be freezer meals unless I do go out.
Have a fab day all

Morning :hello:
Happy Birthday RosyRed :bdaycake:
BB Cotswold Wildlife Park is great, I love it there Flutterby glad you had a good time
I’m not happy with my labels, I just don’t think they look right. I might try again with smaller labels and raffia (which I don’t have so it’ll have to wait). PIC HERE
Had a fab day by myself yesterday, might send mr tru out more often.
We have loads of blackberries, I’ll pick some later and make a crumble. I say that, then I eat loads so what I mean is – I’ll make a crumble if there’s enough left
Not much to do around the house today, I did most of it yesterday. I want to watch Ghost Rider 2 so I'll probably spend the afternoon on the sofa.Bulletproof0 -
I am also awake early - habit I suppose! Today I am going to have a NSD. We spent far too much on a day out yesterday. I have to clean the house ready for our house swap holiday which starts this week (v money saving!), cook a reduced price beef joint which will hopefully do at least 2 meals, make scones with gone off milk, possibly go and pick some more wild plums to make jam with, and do some paperwork. Phew! The kids are going to have to look after themselves today methinks!Oct grocery budget £368.40 / 6000

Morning all - Happy birthday Rosy Red. We're back from our holiday (4 days at my father in laws house!) and I'm back on the OS wagon, so back on here too!! Today I have to go and pick up some things I've managed to get cheaply - a circular mirror (free!) and a load of picture frames which I hope to sell on! I then need to go shopping for fresh foods and milk and tonight when my friend and her children join us, we're having Lamb hot pot!!!
Friend has OCD tidiness so I will quickly go around and tidy up from when we arrived home with the camper van yesterday! Just dumped it all in the hall, but I'm now up to date with the washing!! Can't wait til the boys go back to school!!!2014 will be all about ME!
( well that hasn't happened!!!)
Mortgage free. Will be debt free in Nov 2014. Credit card £2500 -
Good Morning All
:beer:Many Happy Returns Rosy Red:beer:
Tru - I like them
Lovely sunny but fresh start in Essex today, meant to rain later though .
Had a good day out yesterday, went on an old fashioned English seaside day out to Clacton - didn't see the lion though
Today will be having a home day, will probably need to drop DS off to his mates at some point but will be mainly ironing and filling in the kids passport applications - hate forms like that. Need to get it done though as DD as appointment at the London Passport office on Thursday as is her first adult passport.
Just about to put some pork belly in the slow cooker for dinner, got quite a large one so hope to have some left for pork stew. Will be having tonight with all the normal roast trimmings.
Umm nothing else to report, no much else going on.
Have a great Bank Holiday Monday all.x0 -
Morning all
Happy Birthday RR
BB, lovely pics.
BB, thanks for the tomato link I shall try that.
Tru, they look good to me.
Overcast here today but not got any real plans so the weather doesn't matter.
I cut hubby's hair yesterday, I always do it & he's always had a number 4 all over, but where he's going thin on top there were always a few straggly bits that I did with scissors & never really looked right. So he asked me to find the number 2 comb & use that, well I found two of them, used the shortest one & ooopps! Still it will grow, lol, I think it looks nice & TBH will be tidier for him.
I finally got through all the ironing yesterday & the washing basket is empty so today I shall have another sort & tidy in the sewing room & then darn some socks.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning, the sun is trying (and mainly failing) to get through the clouds here. I plan a trip to the gym, then on to the office for a few hours there with a shopping trip in between. I got loads of work done yesterday, which has helped me to relax a bit and not feel so rushed all the time.
No idea what I will have for lunch but dinner will be a stir fry. Minced pork, chilli and loads of vegetables, with noodles. Love it.
Got a load of brambles cleared from the garden yesterday, there's still more to go. I think the birds have had all the blackberries....I only found 2 tiny ones, but cleared a bran tubs' worth full of brambles.
Going on holiday a week today (France for a week) so need to start making sure clothes etc are clean and ironed.'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.' T S Eliot0 -
Hello everyone,
Had a good day yesterday but ended up buying a dress and shoes for a wedding I'm going to in November!
Today should be a cheap day - have to go to Asda in a few minutes (we have a huge one round the corner!) for some bread, then off to BF's dad's house for his birthday. He's cooking roast lamb so im really looking forward to that!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0
