Adelight why not try plum vodka or brandy for Christmas presents? This is the recipe I use:

Fill a large glass jar, one third full of plums (about 500gm, 1 lb) opened up but including pits. Pour in sugar so that it is about 5 cm (2 inches) above the plum level. Add 70 cl of spirit (vodka, gin, or cheap brandy) depending on what you want. Leave it for about 3 months shaking occasionally in a cool dark place. Strain and put into pretty bottles, seal and label. Voila!

Unfortunately I don't know anyone who would appreciate such a gift but you've reminded me I know lots of wine lovers and an old wine making book that will surely have a good recipe for plum wine! Thanks :D

    Morning all,:j:j

Very windy here this morning. Some spots of rain.

Well its been a slow morning here today. The twins are still not dressed.

We were going to be going our for the day but as the weather forecast is bad we have not as yet gone anywhere, Not sure what we are going to do now.
There is high winds and heavy rain forecast for this afternoon for most of the country so I hope that what ever any of you have planned you still enjoy yourself's.
Not sure ether about Lunch or dinner today. We did pick up a Hot pre roast chicken in asda yesterday for £2, We let it cool and then put it in the fridge, So it will involve that,

The hens have been laying great. we have quite a glut of eggs still. We have been giving them away to family members.

Well I hope that you all have a great day what ever you are all doing.

    Enjoy:j:j

    Hope your all well.

Been AWOL for a few days. it started off because I was helping my brother out but Friday I got some bad news. My grandad has just been diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer (terminal). its barely been 18months since my nan died so its a bit of a shock. I went to visit him yesterday and HH I have every respect for your daughter as I could barely go and visit him let alone go to an appointment with him. My mum had to take me but im glad I did cause his face lit up as soon as I entered the ward hes on. Were still waiting for a time frame. will hopefully find out something out tomorrow evening.

Anyway, sounds like everyone is having a great weekend.
Tru I like your spice racks.
    Happy birthday RR.

got alot of housework to catch up on as I've not done alot this weekend due to waiting for phonecalls. not even thought about food yet. will mooch through the bottom of the fridge to see what I can find
    Have a good day everyone

    Morning all,

Not a BH here, ours was first Monday in August, raining heavily and has been windy through the night. DGS2 is here as DD4 is back to school, he is not back until Thursday, he is very disappointed with rain as had lots of outside things planned. Dogs are in too and are presently having a tussle on the floor beside me.

Electrical problems in kitchen have returned to haunt me.....no wm or dw, f/f is connected via lead across kitchen floor to only socket which works...have been on to electrician, who has family problems at present, and begged him to send me someone else if he can't do it himself....he looked at it 2 weeks ago and sorted oven but thought that he would be back before now!

Happy birthday RosyRed, hope that its a good one.

    BB.....hugs.

Tru....I think that those labels look really smart.

HH....did that to OH's hair years ago when he had a bit, hair grows!

Mucky_moo....sorry to hear about your grandad, hope that they can keep him comfortable.

    Good for you Bramble.

Really must wash up (I HATE IT!) and get on with some of the things that I can do without appliance....not ironing though as that is a bridge too far.

    Enjoy your bank holiday everybody

    But surely, that's what DH's are for?!:rotfl:

Mr LW has done the tops of the kitchen cupboads and the fridge freezer, and cleaned the kitchen lampshade - all the stuff in there that I find really difficult to get to, even if I use the step-stool.

I think we'll have our dins shortly; use up the last of the nut loaf from the freezer, with some spuds and carrots, and Marmite gravy, and I can slice and freeze the new nut loaf I made yesterday evening.;)

I need to write Ted's postcard home, too, as he's being picked up tomorrow morning. Then I've got over a week dogless! *cries*
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

    Hi All,

Have been missing for a couple of weeks. A combination of internet problems and not being well. Started off with an awful pain and burning senstation in my collar bone, then started with a cold and cold sores and mouth ulcers. Just slept for days apart from getting up to be ill and now I have the sore throat from hell. Today have decided to try and get back to normal a little bit even though I'm still feeling rubbish:o
Just had a catch up with the thread, Happy Birthday RR, MuckMoo Hugs hun and Tru I Love them too:)
I thought you were all missing when I found you at the bottom of page 2 it must be a busy day on the boards.
DH and I are now thinking it's very unlikely we can sell the house and get to Australia for Christmas so we have decided to take the pressure off and plan for a holiday there instead when my son gets married and then come back and re-assess. We really don't think renting is an option financially so the big move may have to wait until the housing market picks up.
To be honest it's a relief just to plan for the holiday and it has taken the pressure off us both a bit.
My youngest did well in his GCSE's and has secured a place at 6th Form so that's a relief.
Quick question for you lovely ladies, don't mean to be controversial but we need a new dryer. Ours is dying a death and sounds like a jumbo jet taking off. Do you know of one that is a reasonable price and economical ish to run. I avoid when I can but sometimes needs must.
    Have a lovely evening x

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
