Perhaps try giving them a rinse through and using vinegar in the final rinse instead of fabric softener?

dry them in a tumble dryer rather than the line and wash without detergent a few times the crispiness can be due to a build up of soap and softener.

Wash through again and dry on the line, the movement should help. Also make sure you are using a cycle with a decent rinse and perhaps even leave out the softener (sounds daft but it may well be building up) and use a bit less detergent too. Let us know how you get on
