Funeral advice please . .
Afternoon all, An ex-collegue passed away last night after a determined battle with a round of cancer. I know that him and his family were devout and am sure they are Mormans. My question is . .are there any beliefs or traditions I should respect, apart from the usual courtesy to his family coming up to this event and…

OS packaging ideas
Hi all I have sold my late dh's Xbox / games / accessories and need to package it up. Now I have a large box, and have wrapped the console itself in bubble wrap, but it's heavy and I don't think that's enough. I've rooted through my garage and don't have anything from stuff I've received - why didn't I keep all those…

Stewing lamb - is this normal?
I bought some 'stewing lamb' at the supermarket butcher's counter last night, to use in a HM curry. When I started chopping it up a short time ago, though, I found that what looked like a generous amount of meat actually includes a lot of bone - a couple of the pieces were more bone than meat. :( Being a good OSer (;)),…

Help re: Seals and cellophane covers for pickles and chutney
I have always bought little packets of cellophane circles and smaller circles of wax type paper to seal my chutney and pickle jars after bottling. They seem to have doubled in price lately and I was wondering is anyone had an idea for a cheaper alternative -- I was thinking cereal bag liners maybe! Ideas very welcome.…

Jamie Oliver's Earl Grey tea loaf recipe from Jamie's Great Britain
We have just moved house, my cookbooks are still in one of the 40-odd cardboard boxes stacked up in the spare room, and I can't find my Jamie's Great Britain book which is rubbish because I have a terrible craving to make his earl grey tea loaf! I've done a google and can't find it online either. If someone has a copy of…

Need a cheap but nutritious 4 month meal plan
For my family (2 adults (1 6m pregnant), 3.5 year old and 18m old). Needs to be cheap and easy to stick to! Quick to prepare or bung in slow cooker etc. The kids can be fussy though. We have our own chickens and ducks so eggs are readily available (we get up to 7 a day), we make our own chips but could do with doing this…

Grandparents' Treasures and Declutting
I need some help, please, and MSE Forumites are the most imagintive people I have in my life. This bowl belonged to one of my grandparents, but I'm not sure which one. They all died in the 60s and 70s and both my parents died a few years ago. As is clear in the picture there is a bad crack in the bowl and food-type 'gunk'…
