Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 13th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning to all who follow, dry here at the moment but the clouds are rolling in. Had a great but very wet day in Cardiff watching DD graduate, very proud Mum. Off to school in a minute, will put on WM when I get home. Hugs to all in need and hope you all have a good day. Glad you enjoyed your DG's play JackieO last performance of ours today. Bad enough being watched teaching Moorhen let alone filmed, well done. Where are you off to Taplady, hope you have a good time.

    Morning everyone :)

Rain here. Again. My veggies are suffering, not had a single courgette so far as its not pollinated, brocolli is being eaten alive, no sign of any strawberries or raspberries, only one apple tree has apples coming, spring onions are growing slower than a slow thing. Meh :(

And to top it off yesterday H lost his job. Finishes the end of the month. Double meh.

On the positive note it's Friday :T
Got the usual cleaning, washing to get through, want to bake some biscuits too.
No idea what's for tea, not checked the planner.

Hugs and spoons all round xxxx

Need to put a wash on in a while, and get dd to hang it on the airer.

    Have good Fridays all xx

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Cloudy, wet and generally dreich! Looks like it has actually stopped raining though, it looks like its been raining most of the night everywhere is very wet underfoot. DH up and off to work stupid early. .

Dinner last night was chicken pie, new potatoes from the garden, peas and gravy for the menfolk and mushroom omlette, salad and new potatoes for me - dug the potatoes yesterday and they were delish - am just disappointed that we don't seem to have a very good crop although what we have are delicious. Menfolk had HM Victoria sponge for dessert, I had a yogurt. Dinner tonight will be chicken curry, rice, naans and poppodums.

I did manage to get some jobs done yesterday, I managed to get most of the remaining washing done, line dried and ironed, there is still some more but not lots so will get that done today, will do any more washing, but that will have to be put in TD, as there's no way it will dry on the line. Will change our bed, boys beds have already been done. Took DS2's sleeping bag to the laundrette - it's too big to go in my machine, so that's ready to go back to the caravan - dining room looks a complete pit as we have quite a lot of stuff that needs to go back to the caravan - that's a job that we are going to do tomorrow - house will generally look much better then!

I will be heading to the bank shortly, then food shopping - am going to try to buy most of my shopping in A**i or L**l and then the remaining stuff in a more mainstream SM and see what the difference is in the spends - hoping it will decrease my spends even if only by a little. Will then return home and get the housework done, and some baking/cooking - looks like I'm going to have a busy day off - again!

    Enjoy that Friday feeling! x

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

Morning all. More miserable rain here. Feeling very blah and fed up, I just want to start work NOW but still got about two weeks to go :(
Today I'm going to clean the kitchen, bathroom and floors; bottle elderflower champagne; do some yoga; have an ebay rummage; get some TMF stuff at Mr S; go Mr A later with OH for coupons/bits.

Good morning all I had a lie-in this morning as my son-in-law has the day off so he said he would do the school run.Sorry to hear about your OH's job Bitsy, I do hope he can find something else soon. all you hear at the moment is job losses and its awful as for every job lost there is a family suffering Where will it all end I wonder,we are turning back the time 40 years to the 1970s when things were dreadful

Miffy well done to your DD,I hope she can find something soon.To work hard for a career and a degree and be chasingwith 50 other folk for one opening must be do demoralising.Locally to me (and I live in the supposedly prosperous south-east)there were 1700 folk turned up for interviewing for 125 job at a garden centre that had opened up.
My DGS Ben spent most of yestreday walking around the town putting his CV into local business places in the hope of getting part-time work to fit around his 6th form.So far all he has had is one woman in the local paper shop said she may phone later if no one else applies for a paper boys job.(she thought he was a bit too old !!! ) He is 17 this year and has 11 GCSE's and is smart polite and very bright ,but he needs to earn some cash as there is no EMA anymore to get him bits he needs for his 'A'level courses and he knows his Mum is strapped for cash with 6 in the family.

Bless her she has just shelled out £40 odd quid just for PE stuff for her second son who starts in September at his senior school.I am going to help her out a bit by buying her his blazer and tie and shoes so she only has to get him some shirts and bag etc.
Henry is a bit bigger than his next sibling up Jack, so none of Jack's stuff would go anywhere near to fitting him.Its such a worry to Mums at this time of the year getting all their new school uniform.

This afternoon I have History club and we are doing the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s USA so it should be an interesting afternoon. Then I have to pop to my eldest DDs to drop of a present for my son-in-law Ashley as its his birthday as well today .Easy to buy for as he like Itunes vouchers that he can use on his Ipad, plus I always get him a big box of After 8 as they are his favourite Well time I got a move on, as half the day is gone already (I'm not used to getting up this late in the morning :D)A cuppa is calling me,then I want to make a lemon drizzle cake to use up the lemon in my fridge and my sis-in-law is visiting tomorrow afternoon and its her favourite
Have a good day everyone and try to stay dry

    Morning All,

Sunny here this morning. OH working in the dining room, then going to a meeting.
Getting my nails done this morning. They are so long that I'm typing with the nails not my fingers:rotfl:

Bitsy Sorry to here about your DH's job, try and keep positive.

Hopefully OH will put up my hanging basket brackets today on the newly painted house. Looks lovely now. really needed doing, it was last done about eight years ago, and looked really dirty. Now it shows up the rest of the houses in the street:T
    HM lasagne for dinner.

    Anyway, have a good day.

    Morning everyone,

Bitsy sorry to hear about OHs job, hope something turns up soon.

Miffy glad that you enjoyed your day.

Just a normal day at work today, no filming!

DS is coming back this afternoon from a few days by the seaside so I am sure that he will bring lots of washing for me.

I am taking DD2 to have her ears pierced this afternoon, the rule in our house is that you have to be 13 to get them done but as she is not allowed to wear them for netball and there is only a 7 week break in the season (it finished yesterday), we are allowing her to have them done at 12 and a half!

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning all

Sorry Bitsy, that's pants. Hope something comes up soon.

    Congrats to Miffy's DD.

All washing dried on the line yesterday and I've just done all the ironing. The weather isn't too bad today (ie not raining yet) so I will wash the bits I have and hopefully get them dry too. DD will be back from Alton Towers today so I'm sure the washing basket will be full again!

Going to finish the bedroom of doom today (didn't get it done yesterday, coffee with a friend was far more inviting). Off evening job for 2 days so should be able to have a rest.

    Take care. XX
