Hi all
I have sold my late dh's Xbox / games / accessories and need to package it up. Now I have a large box, and have wrapped the console itself in bubble wrap, but it's heavy and I don't think that's enough.
I've rooted through my garage and don't have anything from stuff I've received - why didn't I keep all those polystyrene peanuts???
Anyway, do we have any suggestions on filling the box around the items? Or will I have to go purchase something? And if so, where from?
Many thanks

Mr T supermarket have loads of bubble wrap that is used to separate layers of apples and other fruits - I asked and they said they just chuck it so I pick up a few sheets when i am in there.
You could pack it in a box and stuff the sides with scrunched up b.wrap which should protect it fine0 -
The Post Office sell packing stuff. It's not cheap, but it is designed for the job; I would worry that ending something without packing it properly might end up with it damaged, and you more out of pocket.
I keep one box for recycling packaging stuff - which reminds me, you might just look on freecycle - sometimes people who've saved a lot put packing stuff on there.0 -

Brilliant idea! And what a lovely surprise for the recipient! lol0 -
Brilliant! Love the balloons idea. I had considered that, but we don't have any at the mo, and I did wonder if they'd probably burst, as the console is quite heavy. Although inflating lots of those little water balloons (with air I hasten to add!) might have worked?
But, to answer my own question, I have just come across two very sorry looking pillows, that aren't used as they are not supportive enough, so I have packed those around it. They have been taking up space in the cupboard, and would have probably gone to a charity shop eventually.
Many thanks for the ideas though, will bear them in mind for future posting problems!Bossymoo

I've seen popcorn suggested as packing round fragile items, but would be loath to use it round anything electrical.0

I buy rolls of bubble wrap from poundland, a few rolls was enough to pad a baby's car seat and base very well. I know it means buying some but IMO it's worth it to ensure no damage.
I received a fragile item wrapped only in a cardboard box and some shredded cardboard as packing, it looked like it had been drop kicked by the time it got to me.0 -
I use lots of loosely scrunched newspaper if i run out of bubble wrap, love the balloon idea though gonna use that at Christmas for cousins little boys gift!'You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose' - Dr Suess
