Help re: Seals and cellophane covers for pickles and chutney

Options
I have always bought little packets of cellophane circles and smaller circles of wax type paper to seal my chutney and pickle jars after bottling.
They seem to have doubled in price lately and I was wondering is anyone had an idea for a cheaper alternative -- I was thinking cereal bag liners maybe!
Ideas very welcome. Thank you

My mum always used to cut circles out of the wax loaf papers. I know you don't get them as much these days, but if you're buying whoopsied bread, choose the loaf in the waxed wrapper if there is one. I think Warburton's do one. Also, depends where you are, I know in Norn Iron there is more bread in waxed wrappers.

(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

Hi, I always cut circles from my cereal inner bags like you have said. They work perfectly and very MS too. Hope that helps:)

I don't bother using them. All jar lids these days seem to be lined these days, so corrosion shouldn't be a problem, especially if you use ones which originally had chutneys etc in them.

Thank you all so much --- I think I will try the cereal packet liners but Justamum you are probably right! I feel the jars are undressed without them. Just going back to Mum and Grandma's days I think!
