Hi All!
Are there any DVDs or books that you recommend? Mostly DVDs as I like to learn by watching!
Has anyone watched the Homesteading for Beginners DVDs? There are 4 in the series.

I think they look interesting but as I live in a town I don't know if they would be any use at all!

I have seen a few of the Homestead Blessings series. They are expensive but clips are available online. They cover topics such as soap making, gardening and canning, US made but interesting.

Martha Stewart is also good, though not particularly frugal. You can watch episodes and clips, there is a lot of baking and crafting and classic cooking skills; and lots of free patterns on the website.
There doesn't seem to be much in the way of British made stuff, unfortunately. A search of Youtube will bring up tutoials on almost anything, though. I cannot believe I ever survived without the interwebs. Thank you for the homesteading links, I have never seen them.

There doesn't seem to be any British made stuff! Such a shame.
I like the look of the homesteading stuff but I would be buying it because I love that sort of thing - not sure it would be practical. The DVDs (1 to 3) are on e-bay and are much cheaper on there even with postage.
Love Homestead Blessings! I have their CD which is lovely. I have a few of them but was looking for something that was more of an overall lifestyle thing.0 -
You might have seem them on TV already, but you can get the various River Cottage series on DVD. Here's a box set. They also have standalone DVDs for bread, preserves, foraging etc.0

What a wally I am, of course there is River Cottage! So there is something British. I don't know why it didn't leap to mind.

Some how the whole River Cottage thing bypassed me! I have only seen little bits on television - I assumed it was all cooking!
I am so tempted to order the first 3 DVDs of the Homesteading for Beginners as they wouldn't be that expensive even from America. Part 4 is new and seems expensive but it is 6 disks!
I am fascinated by prairie / frontier living so anything country style appeals to me.0
