Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 14th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning flutterbyuk25 and to all who cross/follow,
Absolutely throwing it down here. I have a mountain of washing to do, so will do essentials and put on the airer.
We were going over to do some work on the allotment today, weather has put paid to that for today. I guess we could potter about in the greenhouse, see if we can sow anything else.
Will hoover right through today. Everywhere is actually quite tidy for once.
Need to get some baking done for packed lunches. Might as well do something productive as it's an indoor day. Will save me doing it tomorrow.
Tea tonight is curry from the freezer and tomato mince sauce for pasta. It's a case of whoever wants what. Just trying to use up stuff from the freezer at the moment to help with cutting spending.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

We have rain too, but considering we've not really had any I won't complain (yet)
DD2 has just gone off to a friends for a birthday treat to London, don't envy the Mum taking 6 girls shopping but they're all 14 so not to bad. Luckily DD2 had birthday money left as I can't afford to stump up money for shopping trips like other parents seem to be able to.
DD1 was up until the wee hours painting something, when her creative juices flow she just locks herself in her room and paints, I came down to a sink full of brushes so at least she didn't leave them to set in her room.
Need to visit the Inlaws today, have a quick tidy round and maybe get the ironing done if I can find the enthusiasm. Something involving chicken breast for tea, stir fry or curry and need to make some bread at some point.
All 6 cats are doing laps of the house as they're not keen on the rain....lots of skiddy paws and thundering around like elephants coming from upstairs:)"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Hi all,
Just popped in to say hello to Lamewolf, :hello: hope you are ok.
I have been reading but not managed to post as have been quite busy.
We managed to win ESA appeal so that's one less thing to worry about.
The sun is coming out here so might manage a walk without getting wet today. Must get some washing out too because I don't think it's expected to last.
Have a good day everyone.Frump to Fab - Solstice Sizzler

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Dry but bright with some cloud and not raining here, but rain is forecast later! DH and I both have had a lay-in - not very often that happens neither of us woke up until 8.30am obviously we both needed it - that's my excuse anyway and I'm sticking to it!!;););)
Reading all the other posts there seems to be a "curry" theme going on - we had chicken curry and rice with a side of veg curry, with naans, poppodums etc last night too. Had planned that we would have cooked brekkie this morning, but DH isn't keen after big dinner last night. We are intending on taking all the equipment we have at home from the caravan back to the caravan, then trying to get the shed cleared out so that is easier to use as there's stuff in there that's junk that needs to be got rid of, hoping today is going to be the day! Had a reasonably productive day yesterday - got the bank and shopping done quite quickly. As I intended I went to A**i I haven't been in there to do a proper shop for ages, I was seriously impressed with the quality they've managed to maintain and their prices - didn't manage to do my whole shop in there but did majority of it and it only came to £60, then went to normal SM to buy remaining items and that came to another £37 - but I did purchase the 3 for £10 meat deal, and a piece of pork to roast that was over £8 on it's own, so spent a total of £97 - most weeks the shopping has been £110+ - so will be endeavouring to do another shop there this next week and trying to buy the whole shop if poss to get a good comparison. Was starting to feel there was no light at the end of the tunnel and the food shop was just going to get more expensive but now know there's other options, we just need to be a bit flexible. Was able to get the ironing and housework done and then some baking, made choc chip cookies, 1 doz jam tarts and a bakewell tart, we still have half the Victoria sponge left - so have a good few items in the tins to keep the menfolk happy! Have also managed to do a menu plan for the week so have a vague idea what's going on! Want to change our bed today as I didn't get chance to do that. Also clear the dining room of caravan equipment - I'm hopeful that the dining table will be back in use - just prefer us all to be sat at the table to eat meals not on trays in the lounge in front of the tv. Dinner tonight will either be the cooked brekkie or chicken and ham kievs - no deciding to order takeaways because I've not planned properly! :T:T:T
The sky has just turned a nasty shade of dark (don't get excited ladies it's not a shade of grey!) so looks like the forecast rain well be with us any minute, boo!:o:o
DH now in the bath, both boys up watching tv with a cuppa, I'm now on my second coffee - really enjoy the rare weekends we get to be at home and just chill, and do household things at our own pace. Will be going to visit the "oldies" at some point over this weekend, and of course, get the other jobs done too.
Better get a move on, need to get a shower then organise brekkie for the tribe.
Have a good day, stay safe and well x

Morning All
We have rain as well. Staff barbecue this evening so I hope it brightens up a bit later.
Lizzie Great news on winning the appeal :T. So many are winning and rightly so. Atos is only in it to make money, the more sick and disabled they persecute the more money they get. Trouble is the government want to get rid of this safety net and make you have multiple appointments with the so called medical professionals at Atos :mad::mad: This and the previous government should hang their heads in shame.:mad::mad:Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Good morning flutterbyuk25 and all,
sun is shining but i wouldnt trust it with my washing if i had any.
As usual, my men are snoring in their beds and the dogs are snoring at my feet.
Apart from feeding the family, i dont really have anything that needs doing in the house today so i'm going to enjoy the day. Could do with going grocery shopping at some point but thats not set in stone.
I want hubby to sort out the tins of half used paint in the shed (but thats if he is willing). I'll show willing by offering to mow the lawn i think if the weather holds out. We'll see.
Hope you all have a lovely stress free Saturday. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
