Good morning all,
Very grey here, no rain yet but ground is wet so must have rained eary morning.
Woke at 7 is to ds sitting on the floor next to my bed stroking my elbow! So up we got and breakfast made. Everyone one else slept til nearly 9.
Still no plans today, my sat off so we are all home and can just have a relaxed day catching up on odd jobs.
We are also having chicken curry, how strange? Tikka in the slow cooker so no work involved really.
Hope you enjoy your day xxx'You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose' - Dr Suess

lizzie great news
Morning all. Grey out, nothing much going on. Called parents to see if my degree result had come in the post but nothing. All other faculties (and most unis) have had theirs already and they turned up in the post a day or two early, but guess I'll have to wait til monday. I'm just impatient.
Not sure what to do or what needs doing today, would like to go out but it looks like it could tip it down any minute and the showers lately have all been really heavy. Maybe I should just don wellies and waterproof and go for it.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -

Good Morning All
Adelight - hope you find out soon!
Sunshine - sorry that you have lost your jobbut you are on the best board for cutting your costs.
Been MIA this week, just loads of running around and being quite disorganised actually
Was DD's 17th Birthday Tuesday, so have had family round and been out for a meal. Have also taken her driving most days which is quite  but also. Really shows how ignorant and impatient some other road users are.
Have been good this week in that apart from DD's birthday meal have not had a takeaway. Tonight having sausages or pork chops with chips, nice and easy.
Having a very slow start this morninggoing to blame the atrocious weather. Just about to have an early lunch/late breakfast then get on with my day. House just needs a quick hoover and the ironing needs to get done. Also going to dye my hair so I guess the bathroom will need another clean when that is done :rotfl:
Hope everyone is ok, (((hugs))) wherever needed/wanted.

Afternoon All
Welcome Sunshine, sorry to hear about your job, seems to be a horrible trend at the moment.
Adelight - Hope you hear something soon, it's tough having to wait.
Been and collected my new steam mop from Asd@, trying it out now but so far it has been a waste of £20! I thought the wooden floors would look much better but they just look the same as if I had cleaned them with the ordinary mop. Have also received my 40 shades trilogy (a week late from Sainsbugs so not impressed with them). Will finish the book I am reading first though.
I had advertised a few things on Gumtr££ and have managed to sell them, one chap came for scaffolding and ended up taking loads of carp from the shed too, also sold the electric chain saw and made a total of £140. Will go back in there later to see what else there is. Loads of woodworking stuff that was DHs and I am never going to use it (don't even know what you call half of it!). Decided that even if I sell it cheaply it is out of the way and money in my savings pot.
Shopping up to date, just deciding if I should put the washing out, I think it will be safer on the airers. Off out to friends for dinner which will be lovely - haven't seen them for a while and DD is joining us when she finishes work.
Enjoy your weekends. Take care. XX0 -

Good afternoon everyone
Well day started well with my youngest Dd arriving with a bunch of flowers for me,bless her Its 9 years today since my OH passed away and she always buys me flowers, then we went over to the shops to get shome shopping(two minutes from my house to precinct)and we got drenched coming home as it was as though someone had turned a tap on.She went off home and I put my shopping away and whipped up a Lemon drizzle cake from taplady's recipe, delicious,as my sis-in-law was coming for a visit this afternoon. She arrived also bearing flowers ,so my house smells gorgeous at the moment.A mixture of home baked cake and fresh flowers.I am going to DD's for dinner tonight which is nice as she doesn't like me to be on my own today.
DGD Holly got a first in her end of year thing at Uni so she's a happy bunny and Mikey's report was excellent and he will get a big hug from his Granny when I get there later on.His teacher apparently wrote that he is a very happy, helpful, little boy who is a pleasure to teach which I thought was nice He rarely says a lot about school so its nice to know that he is doing well.
Right time to go and get the coffee on and tidy up before I go to DDs for the evening
Have a good one whatever you are doing
Take care

Where has today gone?
JulieG: Lovely to hear from you, we have missed you. Look at Eliza! I can't believe she has grown so much. Hope you will enjoy your new home.
Sunshine: Welcome:wave:. Actually, more than welcome. Where have you been all summer? Sorry about your job but welcome to our merry band of money stretchers.
It's freezing here, I'm tempted to put the heating on but keep reminding myself that it is SUMMER and if I have to dig out the winter woollies so be it.
Having been alerted somewhere on here I did a lightning dash to Julian G's this morning and managed to get all I needed for my massive amounts of mincemeat at half price. I'm really going to miss them, just hope that someone buys them up and keeps them going.
Made bread, cookies, chocolate fudge cake and fruit set in jelly for the drop-in tomorrow. Also bread and cookies for us! The Rev picked up an introductory offer on Jamie O's burgers, so those with MH bread and salad for tea. Usually make my own burgers so interested to see what these are like.
My DGD had her prom last night. Yesterday she emailed me to say that she was typing with rollers in her hair but she had done her nails and put on her false eyelashes already! The photos came this morning and my goodness, doesn't she look glamorous. I could hardly believe it was her. I've not seen her for some years now - acrimonious divorce and my exDIL moved the children miles away and spent the money she and my DS1 had just inherited on buying a house with her new (and very secret) boyfriend. However, I don't think the children know the full facts and my DGD won't have anything to do with her father who absolutely adores her. He faithfully sends her a card and money and/or a present on her birthday and Christmas and never gets a thank you. I keep the lines of communication open in the hope that one day relationships can be improved if not mended.
Coo! Where did all that come from. Sorry to unload but sometimes I want to knock heads together.
Right, I now have to type up the minutes of a meeting, write a prayer for church tomorrow, and iron something to wear.
Hope to see you all again on Monday.
Have a restful day tomorrow, especially those who have to work next week, and even more especially those who would like to work but can't.I believe that friends are quiet angels
