Rice cookers - yes or no
This week Aldi are getting rice cookers in for a tenner and I wondered what you lot thought about them? Are they worth ten of my hard earned squids? Anyone have one? Love it? Loathe it? Used it once and never seen it again? I have an electric steamer that I was going to start cooking my rice in - we eat quite a bit. I also…

custard question
Hello all. I've just made some custard, which I was intending to turn into vanilla ice-cream by adding in some whipped cream and freezing. But I've just discovered that I've bought single cream rather than whipping cream by accident. Can I freeze the custard as it is and eat it as custard ice-cream? Or will it keep until…

Undercooked chicken!!!!
I roasted a chicken yesterday and we used the breast meat for dinner, which was perfectly cooked btw, but later in the evening when I went to carve the rest into joints for the freezer I noticed the meat around the hip joint and underneath was still rather pink looking :o I've left them in the fridge for now as I'm not…

More kenwood
Sorry to ask yet another Kenwood question BUT I've got no idea what to do with it!! If you are making a cake for example, do you just make it as you would normally, just using the KC to do the mixing for you (and do you use the K-beater or whisk?) Or is it better to use an all-in-one type recipe and just blend till mixed?…

Help, everything smells of turps!
I had a bit of a pregnancy brain mush moment on saturday and stuck a dishcloth in with my normal wash - something I quite often do but this one had had some turps on it from doing up an old mirror with paint around it. It wasn't even that much turps but now all the other things in the wash, despite being washed another 2…

advice on laundry please
Hi I'm after a bit of advice please. I've recently ditched my persil non bio and comfort for soapnuts, white vinegar and lavender oil.. it is great and I am happy with it except for the stuff that is heavily stained.. I didn't expect the soapnuts to work on these as they obviously have no stain treatment in them. I hate…
