Sneaky 'forward rolls' - Asda prices
I'm posting this on here as I know quite a few OSers keep info on various prices (I think I should start too) and hopefully someone will know for sure. Over the past couple of weeks on a few occasions I've thought that the odd price in Asda has suddenly shot up - or is it just my bad memory? The most noticeable was lean…

Verjuice: the Condiment of the Bard
Verjuice was a popular condiment during the middle ages. Mostly it was made from unripe grapes, but it can be made from any unripe fruit or unpoisonous berry - including blackberries. It is simply the juice of unripe fruit - nothing more. You can get grape verjuice in bottles imported from South Africa with a little…

chinese cooking ?
Hi all, we're doing pretty well with sticking to a food budget, apart from a once a fortnight addiction to a chinese takeaway! First item I'd love a recipe for is sesame prawn toast... now I know it contains prawn, sesame seeds and bread... but what else, and how does it stick together? Next thing is salt and pepper…

Three leftover doughnuts
I bought a bag of 5 Asda Custard doughnuts yesterday - reduced and needing eating up. I ate two of them, but they aren't the most fantastic tasting I've ever tried - the coating is icing sugar rather than sugar, and, amazing though it sounds , I don't think I can face eating the other three as they are at the moment :p (if…

For the first time in years I went bilberrying up on the moors this evening. Got sufficient for 1 and 1/2 pies fairly quickly. Would have collected more but the bushes were soon in the shade and I hadn't taken a jumper. I love the taste of bilberry pie. My mum always made one for my birthday. Definately going back…

Plant killer trying to reform.
Hello all, I have a confession to make. I am the plant equivilent of the Grim Reaper. Plants of any description see me coming, throw up their leaves in despair and die spectacularly quickly. I have killed cacti. I can't cope with the burden of death any more! We have recently moved to a new house whose previous occupant…

Bubble bath as a replacement for body wash?
I've run out of body/shower wash but wondered whether I could use bubble bath as an alternative. I don't really get much time to have a bath and would like to try and use up the mounting bottles of bubble bath I've been bought as gifts.
