I have a confession to make. I've no idea what the difference is beetween washing powder, washing tablets and liquid washing stuff :o Is one product more effective than the others or just less messy to use? At the moment I use tablets but it occurred to me that I could buy brand-name powder for the same price as the…

Prunes
I love prunes but the price of them seems to keep going up as the places where I can buy them disappear. I usually buy those with stones in, soak them and put in the bottom of the oven in a casserole dish whilst cooking our meal. Can anyone help me as to stockist and good value. I live in North Manchester. Many thanks

Slow cookers and nutrients ?
They say methods such as steaming are best to retain the highest quality of nutrients in veg, so the quicker they are cooked the better. I have a SC and just wondered if anyone knows whether cooking veg for so many hours destroys the nutrition of the veg? I love making veggie & meat casseroles for my sons, but wonder if…

Dying leather?
Not sure if this is the right board so please move it if not... I bought some boots yesterday that I love the style of, but the colour is an orangey tan and I'd have preferred a dark brown. Does anyone know anything about dying leather? Can you do it at home? The boots are slouchy with folds, so I am a bit wary of wrecking…

*Slow cooker experts, help please!*
So this morning I decided to give my slow cooker a go and cook the chicken curry recipe someone posted last week. I put the ingredients in and put it on HIGH when I was suppose to put it on LOW. I put it on at 8.15 and realised my mistake at 11am and switched it to LOW but now i'm worrying if I'm suppose to do that and if…

How long does Bacon keep?
I bought 2 pack of bacon in Asda on a "whoops" price yesterday. Unfortunately I didn't look at the use by dates on them. One pack is 3 days past it's use by date and the second is 6 days past. They look ok, although I haven't opened the packets and smelled them! Is it ok to eat them, or should I take them back?
