How long does Bacon keep?

I bought 2 pack of bacon in Asda on a "whoops" price yesterday. Unfortunately I didn't look at the use by dates on them. One pack is 3 days past it's use by date and the second is 6 days past. They look ok, although I haven't opened the packets and smelled them!
Is it ok to eat them, or should I take them back?

Here I go again on my own....

If the vaccum on the pack is still intact they should be fine. However should Asda be selling out of date stock even if reduced?0

See what they smell like, and look for a greenish tint and if it's slimey and sticky don't eat itComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0

On the telly a few weeks ago, i saw an item about food waste, and they said the use by and best before dates are there to protect you, but also the shops, quite often the food is fine, but the shops cant risk selling it and making people ill. What they recomended, is to look and smell the food, and take a small taste to try, if you think its ok, then it prob is. I would prob cook it all if you think it is ok, as once its open it would go off quite quickly.

Yes I saw something with Giles from the F-Word investigating how some people, other than vagrants, get most of their food from dustbins which has to be the most moneysaving way to shop!0 -
You can freeze it once you've decided it isn;t off. Just make sure you do it in batches as you'll have to defrost it all together:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I've gone into a Supermarket before to buy Mince only to see some that have gone brown, i've had to tell the staff because it was obviously off. I think with Bacon 3 days over the best before date is ok if eaten that day.0

Id personally take it back if I bought it yesterday and it was already out of date! And be massively upset!
