  • if you have got kittens/cat please do not give pom poms to them. you get bits of wool all over the house and kittens try and eat the wool (this then bungs up there digestive sytem) so it a trip to the vet :(

Don't make the hole in the middle too small as the more wool you can use then the fluffier the pompom

My Grandmother taught us how to makes these when we were kidz. We wnet a bit OTT and ended up with a house full of FLUMPS all complete with googly eyes. She also taught us to wind a ball of wool with a dimple in the top and how to make mini trophy cups out of quality street wrappers and lots of other really useful life skill type stuff. God Bless all Granny's the world would be a poorer place without them IMO:A

OH yes they do,my Mum is exactly that kind of granny. She makes all those sorts of things, including goblets out of choc wrappers - I didn't know anyone else did that MATH,that's brought back memories.

Whenever one of my kids say 'have you got any card/old boxes/yogurt pots/ribbon' etc or 'can we make pom poms/collages/do painting/potato prints?' etc I say 'no, but Granny has' or 'when you go to Granny's'.

I thought I was going to be the kind of mother who would enjoy doing these things but I don't :o Thank Goodness for SuperGranny :D

two pieces of card one on top of the other. Cut out a circle and put a hole in the centre big enough to pass wool through. It looks like a ring doughnut. Then start passing wool round and round. When the card is full as you can make it, thread a needle with some wool and pass it through the two pieces of card so that all the wool is caught at the centre hole. Make it as tight as you can and tie the wool. Cut through the outer edges of the wool between the two cards.

You are very lucky- my mum is too busy with her own life for our children (not sure whether to be happy or sad about that).

My Granny did the goblet thing too…
