Hiya,
In the past I've used Glo-White for bringing up my nets/voile ... just wondered if there was an OS way of doing this?
Thanks y'all.

Soak them in a solution of water with a dissolved denture tablet, then wash as normal.

I would suggest first to put them through a washing cycle with water only, to remove the dust.
Then second to follow up with a washing cycle with washing powder (I use Persil Automatic for whites) to clean them. On both washing cycles, add a new white towel to bulk the load, otherwise the material doesn't tumble/agitate very well.
I pick a nice day to wash them, so that I can leave them to drip dry on the washing line outdoors.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the 'I wanna' and 'In my home' and Health & Beauty'' boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Hi Earwig, soak your nets overnight in cold water, no soap powder and then hand wash in warm water with a little of your normal soap powder, it always works well for my nets.

You can buy stuff from the supermarket called "glow White" (or something like that) which is especially for whitening net curtains. It's in the soap powder/fabric conditioner section, and I think it comes in a smallish box.

Hi
Firstly I soak the nets in the bath with cold water and the strained juice of 2 lemons then wash in warm water.

I dont have nets, as I think they are a dust gatherer, but my mum tells me she soaks hers in the bath with some bicaronate soda, then put on a normal wash and adds a little more of bic soda in the soap dispenser drawer. She was amazed how clean they came up.
Hope this helps!!!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
I don't faff with soaking nets in the bath, or any sort of prewash.
I put my net curtains in the washing machine on a 40C wash with Persil automatic powder. The key is to put other bulky items in with them, to help the agitation.;)
I did mine last week and as I didn't have a white towel (who does?), I used a couple of white polo shirts in the load instead.
From taking the nets down, washing, hanging on the washing line outside to dry.............they were back up at the windows again within 2 hours.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the 'I wanna' and 'In my home' and Health & Beauty'' boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I don't have nets but my ex-MIL always got her nets sparkling (I mean REALLY White) and when I asked her about them, because she was a smoker and they used to get grimy, she said that she washed them on 40 degrees and then put them into the sink, or a bucket with some water and a couple of sterident tablets. Apparantly it was a tip she picked up in the Sunday Post in the 70's and believe me her nets used to come up brilliantly!!!Jane
